Yesterday a lorry driver thought it was OK to drive into my car then drive off as if nothing had happened.
Luckily for me we have CCTV that clearly shows all the necessary details. Police have been informed..

(EDIT: this one's better. Bad luck on the car, mate. Glad you got footage)
Wait to get sued for not having a CCTV licence 🙂
Nice edit bodgy 🙂
Trimix, it's business CCTV so all good there 😉
Good luck getting the police to do anything.
This happened to a friend, the police wouldn't get involved and just referred him to his insurance company.

We've been having a problem with lorries parking illegally, blocking the road etc and the police have been really good. Hoping they'll be as good with this incident too, fingers crossed
Same thing happened to me recently, except we found who they were delivering to, and contacted them, they gave the details of their logistics people and the delivery number etc and we made a claim via their insurance. It did take a lot of chasing though.
The driver has committed an offence so you can sort of insist the police do something about it!
As to getting your car sorted - you need to tell your insurance company what's happened. Unfortunately, it may well impact your premiums even if not at fault.
Was it the rear end of a trailer? In no way defending the driver but sometimes they don' even know they'e hit anything.

Nope, front near-side corner..
You're lucky.

Last week my wife got sideswiped by an hgv on the M25 who then ****ed off down the road without stopping. It has totalled the car so no way did they not realise they had hit it.
It was reported to Surry Police whos response was 'well it's up to your insurance company to investigate a hit and run. Maybe they can get the camera footage. We have no lines of enquiry to follow so won't be doing anything further". So the police now think it is up to the insurance to investigate a crime which left a pregnant woman and toddler stranded in the outside lane of the motorway?! What an absolute shower of useless shites.

Another driver backed into me on a petrol station forecourt, without the CCTV I'd have gotten nowhere as she claimed no knowledge of the incident despite me having taking loads of photos of it all and her insisting that she wouldn't contest it. She even stopped answering the phone to her insurance company, they saw the footage and accepted liability on her behalf, which apparently she wasn't too happy about.

Yeah, like a cyclist. (Been there)

I'm inclined to agree, although they do sometimes like a 'case on a plate'. I'd bet they'll ask you to speak to your insurance, provide them with the evidence, they put it to Truckie's insurance who'll pay out no contest and that'll be it. I doubt the driver will even be questioned about leaving the scene of an accident as no one was hurt.
