That's not the communication the staff received though, that's been released to the media after they have shared the news with employees in the two locations affected.

That pic at the top is a cut and paste from the public Press Release/ statement Tesco put out.

It's not how it was communicated to the staff concerned.

The exact same words are reported here...

Can't understand what the issue is here, looks like a standard press announcement.

Tesco are armeatures in this occasion, a text would have been far more unprofessional.

Pffft frankly thats just not trying.

We got pay freezes, cuts and redundancy followed by an e-mail thanking us all for helping in reducing the hourly rate charged and contributing to the increaced proffit!

Not seeing the problem either, when I saw the thread title I was expecting a screenshot of an email or text saying "Bye!" or something... I'm not sure there's ever a pleasant way to tell someone they no longer have a job.

Perhaps no pleasant way but certainly some ways are better for the employee than others. The SoP for my own company is ( sic)

"Please meet your new replacement in India and by the way this is also notification of your redundancy. You have XX days vacation left and unless you spend all your remaining time transferring your 20 years of skills to your replacement we will withhold your last salary.

Please note your new line manager is also in India and you will require their approval... for any vacation days you have remaining you wish to take. If they fail to respond to your application for leave this does not signify you may take the days as leave.

Please be patient as your new line manager has 32767 direct reports.

Please note:
If you have any outstanding expenses please do not waste work time filling these out. (or we will withhold your salary)
Please do not use work time to book your remaining vacation days off (or we will withhold your salary)

typically tesco.. divide and conquer.. earlier in the week announced 3% increase for all hourly paid staff.. yesterday salaried staff were told of all the benefits they enjoy.. as there not getting a rise and today 1200 get the middle finger..

a typical Tesco ruse that they ve been using for 20 plus years.. best one though was when they announced 8% rise for checkout operators whilst freezing everybody elsies pay and slashing benefits/discounts including losing the right in future to vote for pay proposals..
. and then let staff vote on it.. not unsurprising the largest group of employees swung it
