Tesco Clubcard vouchers and Alton Towers

Has anyone exchanged Clubcard vouchers for Alton Towers tickets? I am trying to make sense of it - it says on the Tesco site that vouchers can only be exchanged for standard entry ticket prices – £68 on the day (walk-up price) or 'from' £29 in advance. Can I buy the advance tickets using the vouchers (thereby costing £14.50 each)? I don't want to exchange a bunch of vouchers only to find I have to pay the 'full' price of £68 (which would cost me 'from' £29 using the exchange of vouchers) and not make any actual saving.

Thank you!

I tried to do something similar for legoland last year but gave up in the end and just paid for the tickets outright. I don't think there was going to be any savings at all if we went down the club card route and the level of faff it seemed to be adding was generally ******* me off.

you can not do what you want to do. You can either get the discount on the tesco vouchers (or buy one get one free on kellogs boxes etc) - by paying full price at the gate or you can book online. Costs around the same either way so I'd keep the vouchers for something where the discount isn't available when you pay cash

But surely Clubcard vouchers are different to the 'offer' from Kelloggs (Kelloggs is a partner deal, whereas with Clubcard vouchers, I have 'earned' the money)???

I've used Tesco clubcard vouchers to buy Alton towers tickets online in the past, pretty straightforward. Just don't let the site time out on you, or the voucher code disappears and you've a confusing discussion to be had with customer services on both sides!

not from merlin's perspective. Tesco are probably paying them 50p on the pound for vouchers they provide, or thereabouts (ie : tesco aren't swallowing the entire 2-for-1 difference in clubcard points). Merlin want to get £30 or whatever per person, so if you stack a kellogs deal or an online purchase on top of the clubcard they're only getting ~£15 per person for entry.

Then an extra £30 when you get inside and realise Alton Towers now has "pay to play" rides.

I was quite disappointed by that when I last visited, it seems quite an unpleasant change in business model.

does it? its got fast-track as an option, and has always had small things that cost a quid (radio controlled boats etc) but I don't think any of the actual rides cost more?

There was a few pay-for on-site attractions when I last went. Some VR thing and a dungeon. They may change seasonally?
