Really appreciating the soundtrack. Sounds like it was recorded by banging hammers on old pipes.

a better film......Terminator

TII is a big let down imho, john connor is a whiney little turd Im not convinced by him being either a computer hacker or a crosser riding street kid in any way, the set piece stunts are way OTT- im thinking of the truck chase in the drainage canal
linda hamiltons character is interesting and she plays it well
the premise of the T1000 is ok

the biggest issue is that Arnies star power has turned his character into a loveable good guy with half his lines played for laughs, the gritty nihlism of an apocalyptic future we saw in T1 peeks through occasionally but its just not enough to save it from the hollywood cheese

Camerons career has been on a downward spiral since Aliens imho

Many years ago, Empire reckoned that Arnie riding the bike while reloading the gun one-handed was one of the coolest moments in film.

Aliens > Alien

ION,

For years the canal chase in T2 was my reference "show off my AV gear" scene. The thunder, followed by the silence, followed by the kiss of the swinging spark plug as it ignites, is just seminal.

79 speed box, world's only 2 stroke XR, and the lamest throttle hand ever. Other than that, I like - Aliens is betterer though.

The original is always the best. The only exception to this rule is Empire.

The hammer banging sounds in the music are used in toy story 3 when they are in the waste dump near the end. They wanted to use the terminator music but they couldn't get permission so made some that sounded similar. I was sure it was the T2 music and had to google it.

T2 is an awesome film. The first two are both excellent.

Ronin.

Also, T1 is much better than T2. Only good thing in T2 is the guy who plays the liquid metal termie, he does the robot thing rather well.

T1 is partly influenced by a Philip K Dick story, which helps 🙂

Aliens > Alien, for me. I don't seem to have too much of an opinion regarding T2 vs Terminator, though. Like Househusband I did enjoy Black Hawk Down, though.

At the time of release a Fangoria spread on the film pointed out that based on their nothing dead will go time travel tech, there's far too much hair present in both films.

Still a corker, though...

Predator is Arnie's finest by miles and I really rate it as the best blokes action/scifi film ever made. It's not the best story, best acting or anything like that but it is perfect for what it is. When it's on I watch it, I can't say the same for any of the Terminator films.

Hair isn't actually dead.

Well, that explains that away then...

Edit : Although a quick Google would suggest that the stuff on the outside of the scalp is dead. I have no idea as I'm not a biologist of any sort, but the general (mis ?)conception seems to be that it is.

Regardless, there's too much hair because it was filmed in the eighties, so I was, ultimately, correct...

I've no idea and don't care to be honest it's pointless as it's just entertainment. It's nearly as bad as those complaining about the 79 gears on a motorbike but not questioning 2 cyborgs travelling through time.

The most important thing to remember here is that it's a good job they didn't ruin it by making more Terminator films after T2 wrapped it up nicely.

Right?

RIGHT?

Yes that's correct - I also heard George Lucas was considering making 3 prequels to Star Wars - thank good he didn't do that, can you imagine?

If we're talking here about coll one liners, effects that still look good and a knowing script then surely Robocop requires a mention here. I could practically recite the whole film at 15 years old.

P.S. Everyone knows that Arnie's best film was Commando - 'I let him go', classic.

Thank you, sir - that's quite an accolade considering some of the talent around this place.

I quite liked the sweetheart line, too, but it was lost on Drac. And the T.1 reference on the Stupid things you get asked in your job thread, but it just slipped into obscurity.

Last night, while watching the opening scene with the missus, I mouthed the What the hell, goddamn sonofabitch. What the hell... line with precise timing (I hadn't watched the film for many years before last night). She just glared at me out of the side of her neck.

I know - sad git...
