Got a week booked off in August but haven't got anything booked yet. Any suggestions for somewhere that would meet the following criteria?
>Beach
>Historic/interesting stuff to see when not on the beach, I don't mind the beach but can't do it every day.
>Nice restuarants
>Hot but not mega hot, under 30 degrees ideally.
>Decent hotel
>£500 pp for hotel and flight
Muchos!
Thank you binners!
😀
Calvi in Corsica. Easy to reach, compact, good food, nice snorkelling off the rocks around the citadel. Stay at the Regina hotel, which has a huge underground car park and is 15 minutes drive from the airport and 10 minutes walk from the town. The island is fascinating and there's lots to see.
Alternatively Lucca near Pisa looks absolutely stunning.
Even better. Just spotted this, this morning. Living the dream 😉
On a serious note... how about Barcelona? I've stayed in Barca for a week. It ticks all your boxes. And its bloody brilliant! Maybe stay somewhere in one of the beachy places outside the city, like Sitges. Transport links into the city are brill, and dirt cheap. So you've got the best of both worlds. Beach holiday, with one of the worlds best city's on your doorstep
good call Binners.....Barcelona that is, not Blackpool!
Perpignan?
Another option is Palma, Majorca. I went there for a week once, well in a hotel on a beach nearby and it was very nice. Obviously not as HUGE as Barca, but a good a nice Town and area.
[s]Palma[/s]any of, Majorca
ftfy.
Went a few weeks ago and tbh I wasnt that enthralled with Palma (though it may just have been the heat), however portals was fun, as was soller/port soller in the north. Take a bike if you do do though...
Heat wise, best not go mid summer, lest you want to cook.
Alternatively Lucca near Pisa looks absolutely stunning.
Lucca is stunning, although it does fall down on the beach front.
Soller or Pollensa on Mallorca would be good calls too, although you may struggle on the budget front.
Crete?
Might get hot but at least you are pretty certain to get cooling sea breezes (aka wind) especially in August.
