I am getting one as a joint Christmas present with our 11 yr old daughter. We have just got the basic package (ie just the headset) and currently the Move Controllers are OOS everywhere (or at silly prices) so what games would anyone recommend for 11 yr olds (she wants Beat Sabre but I assume that needs the Move Controllers which I will buy when they become available again? Obviously I am getting Doom... 🙈🙈🙈💩💩 but what other games are recommended (I like shoot 'em up / First Person Shooter games). Thank you.
Ordered one yesterday for the kids for Christmas. It will be kept at my house, got the star wars squadrons and rik and morty pack.
You should get star wars and the resident evil 7 game for it. A freind brought his round last year and it was res 7 that made me realise I needed to get a ps4.
It’s amazing.
I find the games better suited to it are where you are sat in something that then moves about, like a car or plane or spaceship, as that is what you are doing at home.
Ace combat (planes), Gran Turismo & Dirt Rally (cars) are great, a mate recommended no man’s sky too
The mini game pack (worlds?) That comes with the kit is decent, I've been a little underwhelmed with mine thou. The games are fairly antisocial (except keep calm and nobody explodes and a rally game) so i just haven't used it much
Is Pistol Whip on PS4VR? Pistol Whip is AMAZING!
EDIT: yes it is.
Resident Evil VR...better than Picolax!
My mate had one a couple of years ago. I think I made it to the house and wouldn't go through the door! Didn't even get to the scary stuff! 🤣
Wipeout is good. We also have no man's sky which is probably my favourite implementation but I played it through on the TV and it's not really worth playing again as a game. But it's even better with move controllers in multiplayer, as watching your mates waving their hands around and gesticulating is flippin hilarious.
I've also got Farpoint, with the gun, which is intense; Minecraft which is good but a bit nauseating; and a few kids games which the kids enjoy.
Most games have lots of options to modify how the game works to avoid motion sickness. Stuff like step travel instead of smooth movement, or tunnel vision whilst moving. It's worth experimenting, and some games are better than others. It's usually a certain thing that sets me off (and I am a travel sickness lightweight). Like looking down and panning sideways to place rows of.blocks in Minecraft, or looking around at the scenery on the victory lap in Wipeout when I was looking up and to the left when the car made a hard right. Don't do that. Urgh.
Ohh Wipeout - my girls like the normal version of that so they will love it.
It's brilliant, a great implementation (you get shutters on the side windows to limit peripheral vision and hence reduce motion sickness) but it's also easier and more natural because you can look ahead down the track where you want to go instead of where the ship is pointing. And as you'd expect it looks amazing.
Star wars squadrons is great, o can only manage about an hour as it's too intense and I need a break after that. Peering round your cockpit to spot a tie fighter when doing a loop is awesome.
So we are loving it so far - tried all the free trials and have bought AstroBot which the kids love and I have got Star Wars Squadrons for myself. I am very impressed with how immersive it is 👍👍😹
Mine hasn't turned up yet. Game said it might be another week.
Great deal for a bundle of games
Superhot is definitely worth getting.
