You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
Ok, so have job offer in Copenhagen.
I do realise that there are no mountains and the "mountain" biking will be err, limited shall we say and that the beer is expensive (will just have to accept that).
But what are the good / bad things about Copenhagen?
Thanks.
Bacon and pastries.
Whats not to like?
Oh yeah, Carlsberg.
Carlsberg
Probably the sh1ttest [s]beer[/s] pi55water in the world.
I was there this week.
The bike is king.
Nice bars/restaurants.
Lego store.
Beautiful weather one day, epic rain and thunder the next.

The beer isn't that expensive. There are some great proper beer micro breweries. Aero's dark ale is probably the best bitter I have ever tasted including 10 years living in Sheffield. It's not just Carlsberg at all.
Mountain biking can be good in a twisty singletrack way.
if you have not been I would go pronto to check out the place.
I would consider living there and I'm currently writing this at home near Grenoble.
The cycle lanes are great, the city has a great feel, everything just works. Bit of a no-brainer really. You will be disappointed by the Little Mermaid though.
Danish girls and the fact that they sunbathe topless in the city parks in their lunch hour... I am not shallow or anything...
Isn't Pronghorn a Danish brand of MTB?

starts scouring jobs in Denmark....... 😆
Kristiania town.... you can lose many hours of your life there... cool atmosphere regardless of whether you're high or not.
pretty girls.
Yes, been over a lot of times for a week or so. So know something about the place.
But this time its taking family and heading over for 3 to 5 years. So major decision - which will obviously not be based on quality of the beer or the topless totty in the parks.
(Hmm .. I think I need to get my priorities straightened out)

Kristiania town
Spent an interesting week there as a young fella whilst hitchhiking round Europe.
I know what you just said, but this is the best bar in the world. Unless the new one is better.
Erm, no one mentioned "it's wonderful" yet..
tsk, tsk.
Been here 4 years and love it - just a very easy place to live - load of bars, restos, cafes, places to pass the evenings away, great beer as onewheelgood says (new Mikkellers is not as cosy as the old one). Contrary to what I keep reading I find Danes friendly and entertaining. Everything is horrendously expensive, but that makes the rest of the world seem cheap when you travel 🙂 Obviously being surrounded by beautiful girls on bikes and wearing very little adds to the quality of life.
(Mail in profile if you need more concrete info)
Been here six years now, married to a Dane, got a kid, work in CPH and live 25k south. I like it and it's a great place to live, but there are some buts... Will you be on local tax or the researcher scheme? Living costs arent that much higher than the UK, apart from cars which are mental. Are you married and do you have kids? If married, will your wife work? How social are you? Once you 'crack' the Danes, they are great. Will the job provide accommodation?
I have seen a lot of expats come and go, having employed many of them. For some it is fantastic, for others it's not great. PM if you want some more info.
As for biking, there is a big scene based mainly around single track. I'm in Spain right now, but otherwise would be getting ready for the annual Merida marathon, a 103 km ride north of CPH with about 3000 entrants. This is the big race but there's other similar rides most weekends. Road biking and running are also massive here.
Let me know if you have more questions...
My daughter lived there for a year, loved it.
It is expensive, I am used to London prices and Copenhagen is more expensive especially food and alcohol.
Bikes everywhere, I have to say I found the cyclists very aggressive towards each other and pedestrians.

The girls in Munich sunbath naked. Notwithstanding this Danish girlis are great and they all speak excellent English.
@neilco - a basic VW Golf is £60k in Singapore an island 20 miles long with no where really to drive to, that's mental !
@jambalaya... Used to London (and Aberdeen) prices too, but don't consider CPH that much more expensive. Food and alcohol maybe, but not housing. Salaries tend to be higher too, which obviously only works when employed here rather than visiting.
There is a strong sense of passive aggressive behaviour which permeates many aspects of life and stems from the ridiculously misinterpreted Jantelov law, whereby no one is better than anyone else. Great theory, but really, if I am faster than you then get out of my way 🙂 Or, if you are my waiter, then do serve me now...
As for cars... Singapore wins. A new Golf here is just £40-50k... Running costs the same as the UK.
