Thinking of upgrading stereo
something that will still work with steering wheel controls
Bluetooth to phone
sat nav
DAB
possibly reversing camera, preferably wireless
anyone any suggestions?
How much? Get one of the posh kenwoods that match the console if you want to get speedy, £900.
ive got a Chinese knock off in mine and it’s a bag of crap.
Kenwood DMX7017DABS
400 quid android or apple auto, digital radio, works with steering controls and dash cams / reverse cameras.
great piece of kit gor 400 quid
A few years back I got an all singing all dancing top of the range Pioneer at a massive discount. SD card slot, Europe sat nav, hands free thingy, Bluetooth...
My van doesn't have steering wheel controls.
It's a nice unit, but if buying now I'd go for a bit standard unit and connect with Android Auto, making sure the unit has a decent display and it's responsive.
One of the reasons I went with the Pioneer unit is that it has a glass display similar to smart phones and is responsive to touch.

Pretty sure most units are both Apple and Android capable, it makes no sense to have only one, although I wouldn’t be entirely surprised to see Sony do it, they have form in making life difficult for consumers.
Yeah, my unit is both apple and android ready, but at the time of buying I wasn't aware of it and nor was the EU side roaming thing in place.
Knowing now that I can use my mobile throughout Europe I'm not sure if I would fork out the extra for Europe wise sat nav.
Thinking of similar for my Puggy Partner, but the connections and central console control makes finding a unit a royal pita!
My friend who's t5 came with the double din which has FM Radio, SD slot, Nav and Parking Sensors just picked up the other version which comes with DAB and Bluetooth and it works really well. Think he paid circa £250 for it and it came with DAB aerial and Bluetooth mic. Something 315 is the model, the guy on eBay was helpful too as it came with the wrong BT Mic but the guy sent out the correct free of charge.
Only grumble is the Nav isnt now as good, but it was never really used before.
I bought a cheap Chinese Android unit from aliexpress.... It's been grand. It's 8 core CPU and 2gb ram, so like a decent tablet.
GPS works fine, android auto works fine, music player is good, Bluetooth streaming is good. I've not put the reversing camera in yet,but I've no reason to think it won't be fine. The diagnostics app 'torque' works really well and the unit displays stuff about the van well, doors open, air con, etc.
Only issues are the WiFi signal isn't great, but I only need that every so often for map updates, which I can preload onto a sdcard. I've also heard that the Bluetooth calling isn't great, but it's not something I really need.
I did put a custom ROM on it and I love fiddling about with electronics/software, so it's not for everyone....
