The wife wants to buy a telescope for me and the kids to do a bit of star gazing.

I'd rather get a decent one rather than a cheap one. Does anyone have any recommendations? I'm a complete beginner and have almost no knowledge whatsoever on telescopes.

Any information would be greatly received.

Celestron are a good intro brand - they do a bunch with motorised go-to mounts which set up very quickly. You want that otherwise you spend ages trying to find things 😉

Take a look at the Celestron Astromaster 130 EQ.
I bought one for my boy (partly for myself 🙂 ) for xmas, and it is excellent.
I am a beginner, it is a great bit of kit and fuels your interest.
Great value for money.
