anyone doing this and if so how is it at present? has it ramped up with everyone trying to get into teaching English online now as theres no travel?
i ask as my bro has a TEFL company and i took the basic 120hr course a few years back. currently wondering whether its worth calling that in and taking an extra 'teaching online' specialist course to top it up.
i suspect its very difficult to find work, and wouldnt pay as well as my current job, so probably a non-starter but with retirement hopefully around 4 years away, might it be a decent enough way of topping up a modest pension?
experiences and advice welcome.
thanks
I think there are opportunities to use it and get a few quid. I think you may struggle to replace a full income, but there are plenty of people looking for support.
I've got a CELTA, and was made redundant when all the students disappeared and my school closed until this summer (haha.....)
most of the online I have found is to 6 - 12 year old Chinese kids. I'm a bit long in the tooth to wave puppets and stuff around in front of a screen for £11 - £14 an hour
I did look at another site for adults but they weren't taking applications (I think it was Verbling) - guess they are swamped
so my experience hasn't been great I'm afraid but I haven't really pursued it
