You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
I had a brace fitted yesterday to the top gnashers to have the wonky incisors straightened over the next 4-5 months. Today my teeth feel like ive been smacked with a sledgehammer...even the slightest pressure when I try to bite is bloody agony. Even to point where I cant bite a slice of bread or a slice of banana. Is this normal? When will it stop?
Yep. Very normal. It will be better tomorrow. Give it a couple of days for your teeth to settle and it will be fine.
Just look forward to when they are tightened! 😈
Source: 5 years of personal experience. Will be worse in an adult too as your teeth haven't moved since you were young.
Yes it is normal.
Every time you have an appointment it will be painful for a few days after. It used to make me really irritable and grumpy. Nurofen or mtfu.
The pain does decrease as time goes on as your teeth and gums get used to moving.
Traintracks are aweful but nothi g compared to the tuesday night ritual of expanding the plate I had before that.
Step 1. Remove plate
Step 2. Expand gap running longitudinally
Step 3. Replace in mouth and bite down forcing all the teeth outwards a wee bit.
And now I feel sick.
Used to have a removable brace that you had to take out every now and turn the adjusters. Resulted in a dull ache after each adjustment. Also came with the cumbersome head strap and frankenstein attachment for sleeping in!
Pain?! Hell yeah, especially after them being tightened. Dull, aching, sleep-preventing pain. I remember it well. Paracetemol and if you want to splash out get something with codeine to take the edge off... It's pleasure pain though, because you can think about how much better your grid will be after they come off. 😀
Train tracks are terrible for a couple of days after fitting and tightening! - it brings back terrible memories! (Mainly because I couldn't face eating, which was/is a sign something is seriously wrong with me!)
