Being rather a sweaty bugger, not helped by a side effect of the meds i'm on, i'm after some t-shirts which wont show moist patches like cotton ones do now we're finally getting some warmer weather.

Ive got some Alpkit shirts which are great and look smart/casual enough, but after some t-shirts which wont make me look like im trying to run a marathon on the way home from the gym.

Any suggestions?

I've got loads of generic sporty t-shirts from TK Maxx. I buy solid colour, plain ones that look like regular cotton shirts. I've got them from New Balance, Adidas, Puma etc. Never pay more than £15. I can wear them for work and I don't look like a lost rambler or footballer.

I have an excellent one from ION, I'd recommend trying one of theirs.

I just buy whatever Mountain Warehouse have reduced at the time.  The short and long sleeve versions of the Endurance Isocool t-shirts are pretty good and available in muted colours.

Decathlon...

https://www.decathlon.co.uk/p/men-s-breathable-crew-neck-essential-fitness-t-shirt-mottled-grey/_/R-p-302873?mc=8603263&c=indigo+blue_no+dye

Cheap but don't feel it and the one I have washes well.  Discreet logo and fairly muted colours.  As usual with decathlon, sizing is generally on the smaller side so if in between size up.

I find that just about every t shirt shows sweat. The best for me is black, when I sweat patches are less visible than red, or blue, or especially light grey,

for technical T-shirts which feel like normal T-shirts, I like the Fox ones. Plus, crucially, they also have anti-pong built in. (I think they call the fabric TruDri?).

I think I have 6 short sleeve and 2 long sleeve from ION. Worn for riding, staying in and going out and going out out  🙂

see SportPursuit.com for much cheapness

How do the ION tees fit? I'm an awkward between M and L depending on the make

I pretty much live in Under Armour t-shirts which I buy whenever they pop up cheap on HUKD/Amazon. They're all wicking and suitable for bike rides/squash etc as well as casual wear. Some have massive logos but some are very subtle also! They do a poly cotton one which is not as wicking but still ok & feels soft like a cotton T rather than a technical one.

How do the ION tees fit?

Quite big.. well, I wear XL in nearly all shirts and XL in ION tees is a good loose-ish fit. XL in the long sleeve for some reason is a tad too big, But still ok.

Eur XL = 22 to 22.5” pit to pit. Probably not very useful info for you.

I picked up a 7mesh top heavily reduced which made it just about reasonable. It's dark grey, almost black with a 2 button neck and grandad collar. It's probably the nicest going out t shirt I've ever had.

Something from Lululemon.  Gets a bit spendy, but lasts well.

If you have a Costco card, I find these fit that set of requirements pretty much exactly.

As has been said Rohan is worth a look, a bit boring and not cheap but work well.

I keep my eye out for the Royal ones when they are on sale. They last forever but you will still get sweaty patches.

I do like my Icebreaker merino Ts, especially if it's going to be hot in the day and cool in the evening.

But otherwise, +1 for TK Maxx.

Uniqlo.

great value and lots of options from “fully technical” to semi tech.

Look at the dry-ex and airism stuff (ts and polos.). Also, think about wearing vests? Classic strong vest type stuff or Uniqlo do nice super light weight t shirts (heat tech are the insulating ones but there’s another for hot weather - Airism)

Just got the merino t-shirt from Galibier. Fit is good, relaxed without being to baggy. Haven't tried it on the bike yet, but as it's a mix of merino and synthetic material I'm hopeful it should wick reasonably well. Not too expensive either.
