...what’s the point ?
Are they still used ?
Do they actually keep the pot warm ?
Why are they knitted?
Is there a north /south divide on the use of TC ?
Thoughts and stories please...
...what’s the point ? To keep the tea hot!
Are they still used ? Yes in my household.
Do they actually keep the pot warm ? Yes they do.
Why are they knitted? Knitted yarn makes a good insulator as it traps lots of air.
Is there a north /south divide on the use of TC ? Dunno. I'm northern, but live in Scotland.
Currently using a retired woolly hat as a tea cosy.
I can still remember the tea-damp-wool smell of the one my gran used to use.
She knitted it herself.
I have a tea pot but never use it.

+1
Why are they knitted? There not, I initially bought a nasty 70's looking one from the Range, but the neighbour knitted a replacement for us.
Best top tip ever given to me......
Don't trust the man, whom when he thinks he is alone, fails to put the tea cosy on his head.
Tea brewed in pots is inherently minging anyway, stewed, tepid and bleurrrgggghhh so yes, tea cosies are also useless.
Tea from a pot is really nice if you have decent (Loose leaf) tea. I prefer to keep my pot spotless, but am aware of the trend of never washing it. For a cosy I use an old Thinsulate fleece hat!
Isn’t this just a Northern thing?
I d9nt think I’ve ever seen on down here, but the MIL in deepest NYD’s has two..
Beaten to it by tcomc1000, but they are indeed wise words.....

Why would you wait till you're alone?
+1 wear your teacosy with pride!

What the chuffin chuff are you on about? Tea from a teapot is waaaaay better than anything else!
You’re doing something wrong.

It doesn't matter what the vessel it's brewed in is, tea is just straight up minging.

MiL has a cosy with that printed on it. Also attributes the quote to Billy Connolly.
It's a bit small for my head though.
Couldn't agree more Nick. Its all just dishwater
Tea? Is that the stuff I drink when the coffee runs out?
(Three pots and matching cosies in oab_towers, only one fits)
I don't have a tea pot. Strangely I had a tea cosy, don't know how. Gave it away, didn't have a tea pot! Forgot that it could be a hat dammit
Separately, my rule for tea pots is one tea bag person and one for the pot
Last time I had a cream tea in a fancy traditional tea house type place, which was rather nice, the tea for two only had 2 bags in it, I was most aggrieved
