So having discovered that I've over paid tax I wrote to the tax office with my p60 to ask them to check. They have written back saying they need my P11D. So i've never heard of it and don't ever remember having one. Does anyone know where I can get it from? I am not self employed and have never had to complete a self assessment form if that helps.
Thanks
A P11d is issued by your employer to you and states your gross earnings for the year included any benefits in kind.
Your employer will have given you one every year, but they can look like pay slips in some cases.
You will need to ask your employer if they can get you a copy, but quite often its not likely
Thanks funkydunc. I'll check through all my paperwork and then ask HR.
if you've not got and its not forthcoming then I'd put money on yr employer has completed incorrectly, or maybe i'm reading too much into it - all i remember is that i got overtaxed big time on benefits in kind and couldn't work out
someone had done the PIID wrong but wouldn't correct - so check the numbers once you've got it
You'll only receive a P11D if you receive any benefits-in-kind, as well as your regular salary. So perhaps you've never needed one!
As above you only get a P11D if you have a car/ healthcare etc. If you're paying tax on a benefit you're code will be much lower than the regular rate.
As esme said. Benefits usually being car allowance, health care etc, also a said if you don't get any of these then no p11 issued!
i get a salary thats it. no car or healthcare or anything like that. that may explain why i havent had one. am chasing it with hr though. they recon ive had one and basically called me a liar for conradicting them. bandits.
