Been toying with this for a while and I fancy something pretty simple/geometric for my wrist that represents the lakes
Anyone like to show me theirs?
Not directly the lakes, but the guy who did this on me:
Does some brilliant lakes/ mountains/ outdoors stuff like:
https://www.instagram.com/p/BDQzYqfuUnK/?taken-by=tomtomtatts
https://www.instagram.com/p/BDGZTAcOUtc/?taken-by=tomtomtatts
etc
commission your own? incl perhaps a bike wheel, a lake edge, a mountain and a herdwick sheep.
Those are the things that represent the lakes for me.
Ooh.. Not normally a Tatt fan, but I like that guys stuff Bob.
Edit - and he's just up the road.... 😉
I Like those, a lot..

8 volumes if you include the outlying fells
What better way to affirm your individuality than by copying other peoples' body clipart. 🙄
Looking for Inspiration is not copying.

didn't take long....
he's only looking for inspiration, if you're against tats don't bother opening the thread in the first place. What is the point of being negative just for the sake of it?

He's a good guy and his style is fantastic. Polish and has a degree in fine art, hence the very artistic style.

errr... what's getting tattooed got to do with affirming individuality? That's a bit of a misconception I think, brought into being by daft hollywood tv programmes like miami ink etc
People get tattooed because they want to, and some people choose tattoos that have some sort of personal significance..
That's all there is to it
Do you choose to try to affirm your individuality?
If so, why?
BoardingBob - I think you've opened up some other ways of thinking about it there!
Jekkyl - thats exactly the sort of thing I was looking for:)
The GF is a pretty good artist so once I have a general idea she'll be drawing it for me
It's something I've always wanted and the Lakes are a pretty special; place for me, I always think of the camping trips my grandad took me on as a kid and all the special memories I've had with friends over the years
...I've also spent much time loking over the Wainwright sketches antigee
Not the lakes but this was the first bit of my sleeve done by Robert W Ashby at House of Thieves tattoo in brum

Op, tattoo artists generally don't like being told to copy someone else's art fwiw. If you're getting your gf to draw up an idea make sure it's only rough just to give them to gist of it as it'll likely change to suit their style and work better as a tattoo.
_tom - I'm getting in done in Barcelona in a couple of weeks, the artist there has asked for a rough sketch that he can apply his style to:)
Yep, those tomtomtatts look amazing!
Seen loads of little posters in shop windows recently based on old railway posters, like this. Some focus on specific hills / areas =#

Also take a look at David Cote. A Canadian guy and I just love his stuff. He toured recently and was in Edinburgh but I just couldn't think of an idea in time
https://www.instagram.com/thedavidcote/
And his outdoor themed stuff

etc
As you told me when you showed me my guess would be a tad unfair
Nan Bield 😉
great gable?
the hoad?? lol.
My childhood weekends consisted of my dad asking us kids 'shall we go to Rampside beach or up the hoad to walk the dog?' We rarely picked the Hoad.
I'm going for Helvellyn ridge from the North. Sort of.
Edit: or is it from the south?
Disappointed he didn't write 'I climbed the old man' over the top.
bit of artistic license in there so not an exact representation
Artistic license?? More like Chinese whispers... Looks nowt like Coniston Old Man... I'm not sure it really looks like a mountain either... 🙄
Savoy?
I know someone with Ashness Bridge on his arm.
Looks like a Mine Slag Heap to me.. 😆
Thats a Joke, honest. And No, I wouldn't have recognised it.
Lo siento, pero eso es un tatuaje shite. Tal vez va a salir en el lavado 😀
Why did you get it done in Spain? If I were getting something permanently etched onto my body I think I'd find someone that spoke the same language as me to do it.
Euro - harsh... 😉
I really like the first ones BB posted.
I knew you'd all love it as much as me 😀
I knew you'd all love it as much as me
To be fair, if you like it that's all that matters.
Surely a map of Lancashire and Cumbria tattoed on the back would be better? You could have Blackpool at the bottom...
If I were getting something permanently etched onto my body I think I'd find someone that spoke the same language as me to do it.
And if that etching was meant to be representative of a place that was important to me, I'd be tempted to use someone that new what a Lakeland mountain looked like, or I'd probably avoid giving him a badly embroidered patch as a reference!
I'm just going to jump the gun and ask the question you'll be asking yourself in 2, 5 or 10 years time... What on earth were you thinking????
😆 can always rely a tattoo thread for a bit of a laugh......may start one of my own later posting my recently acquired ones!

If only someone had been around to give this fella a hand and shown him the error of his ways. He'd probably have been successful if he'd known how to paint a portrait properly.
It's an interesting tatt OP and as long as you're happy with it, who give a shit what the narrow minded think.

A friend has this. Ashness bridge.
Afternoon Senor'.
N.S.F.W!! (It's only a belly button, but...)
He was on Tattoo Fixers - got a massive 3 Wise Monkeys tat done over it.

Good point. I hadn't considered that the OP might have gone to Spain to find the next Picasso. It all makes sense now.

Plenty of artworks don't look exactly like the original, but everyone's a critic, right? 🙄

You put a tattoo pic on the web (STW in particular), you know what to expect.

Michaelangelo could've put the Sistine Chapel up on here and someone would have found a flaw...

Bit blousy innit!
I would have preferred it without the trail going up the mountain on the right.
Nice ink dude
Is it the path to Cirith Ungol? 😉
Photoshopped ?
Looks too good to be a TaT.
Nice but... seems odd to get it done that way up.
When you look at it aren't all the mountain upside down?
Was always going to be hard to get the right perspective. I have a raven inside my left forearm that is upside down to everyone apart from me.
Way I figured this one is if I'm holding mt forearm in front of me then they're the "right" way up
Love those David Cote ones.
