[Closed] Tassimo alternative

A jar of instant, a spoon, mug and a kettle? Saves all the pretentiousness of having a coffee.

I went through the Tassimo phase but didn't like the waste (or the cost).

Cafetiere for specials, a decent instant most of the time.

Look about.

We got a Dolce Gusto at work (all chipped in a fiver) and it's a really nice quick brew coffee for a few pence. I can get the capsules cheaper at home bargains, or at Asda on offer.

It doesn't replace my ground beans and coffee press, but for a quick brew, it's ace - certainly better than £2.60 costa.

So good, I bought one for home for a quick coffee. I usually use a mocca pot on the stove, but for a quick cup of decent coffee, the pod machine is OK.

As for environment, well, I do loads of other stuff/recycling myself, and a handful of 'pods' a week isn't an issue. Any big brews and it's the mocca pot.

Instant coffee is a no for me. Can't stand it.

I went through the Tassimo thing for a few years then felt bad about the number of plastic discs going in the bin.

Now use an Aeropress and on the few occasions that I use the Tassimo at work I really don't enjoy it.

We got a Tassimo bought for us last Xmas & likewise, the cost/lack of recycling the pods is an issue for me, (although I do cut the foil tops off, empty the grounds in the bin & chuck the pods in the placky re-cycle bin.)
I only use it on work mornings & use a nice stainless steel cafetiere with proper ground coffee the other 4 days a week.

You can buy an adaptor for measures of hot water which is more economical than boiling the kettle for a single cup ..... doesn't answer the question but it helps it to earn it's keep on the worktop.

They just seem (to me) to be designed to maximise waste.
