I've got an MSR Habitude 6 tent which is great. I'd like to add some sort of tarp shelter in front of it for cooking etc. in case of rain.
I've watched a few videos but I can't really visualise what I need.
I want a small package so it doesn't take too much space in the boot. And under £100 including any poles as we only go camping twice a year.

Can anyone recommend something?

If you're car camping as above there is a good cheap tarp with poles from decathlon. It's actually not to bad on it own to carry but steel poles so heavy for a bike if you take the pole but fine ina car

We had an Exped Arc Tarp to get us through a couple of wet weeks in Sweden when kids were small. Gave a good sheltered space for cooking and playing. Initially a bit fiddly to work out how to pitch and no idea if still available.

I've got this Vango tarp with a single pole.
I've used it for years. Great little thing.

The way we camp as a family is to take two x two man tents and a large Sea to Summit tarp that can either go over the top of the two tents as additional cover if the weather requires, or as a separate spot to hang out. Packs down to the size of a small sleeping bag and can be tied off trees. It makes it easy to move on quickly on big trips.

You can sort of see the set up on the left here:

If you are carcamping. Consider a cotton polycotton or canvas one. Then you can have a fire BBQ under it*

* I say under but I mean as far away from the melty tent and only just under or even just outside.

I bought a Coleman tarp/porch a couple of years ago. Been very useful...

Bit of a different scale, but this is an old image of our tarp set up on the front of the big tent.
Stretched over the front tent pole and then guyed down and back. Front centre is just the pole that came with it as high as it will go.
I've since bought another set of poles to open up more set up options depending on which tent we take and whether we want it attached or freestanding.
It's a 3x3m one from Decathlon that was about £20 maybe 5 years ago. Can't seem to find it on their site now though
