To cut a long story short, shattered my heel bone and broke the ankle of left leg last sept. Recovering nicely now, aches a lot if I walk far and aches like hell for 2 days after a thrash on my hardtail but overall pretty pleased with recovery. Just before the accident I was given a tandem skydive voucher for my 40th, question is, do I do it or swap it for something else ? Always wanted to do it and realise the "proper skydiver" takes the main hit but in the back of my mind I'm worried if something went wrong I'd be back to square one (and can't take another 6 months without mtb'ing or 3 mths without walking lol)
Am I being daft or should I swap it for the 100mph zip wire in snowdon instead plus a driving day (£250 gift after all)

More seriously, I've done a tandem and the main instruction for landing was to keep your legs up out the way and land on your arse.

The last thing the tandem guy wants is his passenger trying to reach for the ground and breaking an ankle.

Landing a modern parachute is like stepping off a stool. Just discuss it with your instructor.

As above, they tell you to lift your legs anyway.

You are strapped lower than them so your legs need to be lifted so they can land on their feet and control the landing.

The first bit of you that touches the ground is your arse.

You'll have a far harder landing at the end of a zip wire than a tandem skydive.

You'll be ok, just don't shout flare when you are 20 feet from the ground 🙂

RAM air's at that size, without crazy wing loading and it should be possible to walk the landing off.

How much do you weigh?
