Firstly, apologies, I know there have been multiple tent/camping threads recently but none seemed to cover what I needed.

Can anyone recommend a tent for a multi-day hike?

Needs to be a 2-man (just me but I'm a big lad), light enough to not be a hindrance over 5+ days (sub 3kg) and long enough for aforementioned big lad to be comfortable lay flat.

I've been looking at the OEX Phoxx llv2 (2.08 kg and a 240cm long inner) but not a fan of inner first pitching and the Terra Nova Competition 2 which is lighter but I am unable to find a reliable measurement for the length of the inner.

Any opinions on the above or tents I may have missed. Budget is flexible but £400 really has to be my limit as it will only get used a couple of times a year.

Trekkertent drift? I have recently got a custom one. the inner is 2.4m long ( but low at the ends) Outer first pitch and very light as it uses trekking poles to pitch.

Mine which is a custom build bigger than the two person weighs i.2 kilos with a footprint for the porch and pegs. You can also get the outer up in under a minute which is great in rain

They are compromised a bit by using the trekking poles but the lack of weight and bulk makes up for that

Single pole pyramid tent like a Khafra from Locusgear.
So big you can fit your bike in (well, almost).

I have a 25year old Macpac two person tent that is still in good order after six months of backpacking when I bought it and regular use since. I have stored it carefully and pack it carefully. It is perfect for one 6’2” person, would be a squeeze for two to be honest. It pitches inner and outer together if needed but I store the fly and inner separately.
The nearest equivalent in their range is this I think

I'm 6'3 and definitely recommend the Tarptent Scarp 1 (assuming you want a proper tent and not a shelter)

Pitches outer first, or together (I do the latter)

About 1.5kg, 1 man or 2 man depending on the inner. Very weather proof, optional crossing poles, two doors, two porches

Most importantly, tons of room inside. Lying down or sitting up.

Cheaper, heavier option is a Wild Country Zephyros 2XL. Similar design to the Scarp 1 but not as good. Plus no longer for sale, but you can find them second hand if you keep your eyes out. The non-XL version will be too small

Recommended in another thread, Vango F10 Helium UL2. About 1.4lg packed and the Vango stuff sack is great. Lots of room too. Paid about £200 for mine online.

If you can get hold of one, a Big Agnes Fly Creek HV UL2. Big enough for me at 6'7" sharing with my 10 year old both on inflating sleeping mats.

I'm a fan of pyramid tents as they tend to be light for the size / cost.

How tall are you? 6’2 (what I'd call moderately tall) or are you proper tall? Heard good things about MSR hubba and the cheaper elixir (1 or 2 person versions) in terms of useable space lengthwise. Some of ones that quote long internal length taper at each end meaning you have the inner in your face / feet. The MSRs have near vertical walls at the bottom of each end which address this.

I have wild country zephyros 2 (cheap version of tera Nova you mentioned) which you can pick up cheap on eBay. Good probably up to 6'3ish, but inner does end up close to your face if that might bother you.

I'm 6'5/196cm so probably somewhere between moderate and proper tall; reason I've been looking for 230/240 internal length is to allow a certain amount of give for the sides of the tent to taper in. My current 2 man tent used for car camping (Dyfi and what not) is 210cm and is just too short.

Good to hear that the Big Agnes is recommended. I’ve been looking at the bike packing version of the Copper Spur for ages but haven’t pulled the trigger yet as it feels like we’re still a way off from being able to use it. Wanted something lighter than our Hilleberg Nallo and the reviews seem to be very positive all round

I opened the bid on this
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/msr-hubba-hubba-tent-nx-2-Person-Lightweight-Backpacking-Tent/124199666822?epid=27008653368&hash=item1ceae08486:g:iooAAOSwOe5ey8lC

Then withdrew it as I clearly hadnt researched well enough and also nearly bought the Snugpac Ionosphere, but instead Im now thinking the Zoic 1 as its 3" longer and 5" wider than the Hubba nx
Link to the Zoic 2 -

The hubba hubba and the big agnes are both shorter than the zoic.
