I often consider a GPS unit for navigation. An upcoming Ainsa trip and many tandem gravel trips planned has got me thinking seriously.
Im thinking small, simple.
I want to just upload a gpx and have something simple on the bars with an arrow telling me where to head.
The cheapest garmin etrex 10 seems like it does this. £100 or Edge 130 £130 more bike specific.
Lots of older models on ebay, anything to be aware of? Anything to consider?
Would they all require plugging into a laptop to add a new gpx or do any link to my phone or similar to download a route?
Thanks
I moved from etrex to a cycling specific 830 two years ago having refused for years to accept they could be better.
It's chalk and cheese. There really is no comparison. The etrex is great for walking.
The 830 is the touch sensitive version of the 530. Great until it rains. If you have dodgy eyesight and have the dosh get the 1030 for screen size.
Garmin reliability is not an issue nowadays imo.
Battery life is fine. Can last 2 to 3 days all day riding.
