You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
Hi all! I recall at the height of ‘spring covid lockdown’ there was a great thread with talented forum members advertising their services!
I seem to remember someone who built play sheds for kids, would anyone step forward?
Wanting to buy a little outdoor play shed for my girls for Christmas, but wanted to check on this before committing to some mass made item!
Thanks 🙂
Depends where you are and budget of course, but I had been thinking about doing child-sized versions of my allotment shed, or mini shepherds huts.
@kayak23 that is amazing. Totally beautiful. I suspect it’s probably going to be a bit much, in North Yorkshire but have access to a trailer to pick something up. Got a space 1/1.5m by 1.5/2m which we can use. I think bigger issue is trying to keep £ down to 2/300 if possible. Yours look absolutely amazing but I can’t see how you’d make a small version for that kind of money.
Stunning!
I have a feeling I posted a picture of my mini shepherd's huts on that post, may have been these?

@neilc1881 they are just stunning. Do you sell them at all, may I ask how much? PM if prefer. They’re beautiful!
DIY it, build a frame, clad it, put on a roof. https://photos.app.goo.gl/CsxKFr38jAYUAxzf1
It's based on these plans: https://rogueengineer.com/diy-playhouse-plans/ but shallower pitch roof.
£2-300 is a big ask for anyone to do something you'd like but also earn any money I'm afraid.
You're looking at mass-produced or diy stuff for that I'd say. Materials alone are expensive. Designing and building something on top of that....
Good luck 😊👍
Indeed, mine was about £300 in materials. It's better built than most proper sheds (even the "security" ones) though, so could go a bit thinner/cheaper but the cladding was about the cheapest I could find and the frame/roof is just 2x4s cut in half. Base is all treated, proper deck boards, etc which is overkill too.
Mass produced places cut their own stuff in bulk so go for the thinnest they can get away with. To be honest for a playhouse you're unlikely to want even 10 years out of it so it'll be fine.
