There’s naff all vaguely interesting in for tea and I could murder a garlic chilli chicken tikka from the local Indian takeaway BUT...very aware it could be like inviting a Covidcurrybomb into the house. Some friends of mine still have them and haven’t died yet - I have a devil on one shoulder shouting ‘DO IT!’ and an angel on the other whispering ‘Don’t be a tit’. What would you do?

Go for it. Apparently it's sufficient to nuke it in the microwave before you eat it.

So I read somewhere, sometime.

We've been having a weekly chippy from a van that does a circuit of the local villages (i.e. a different village each night.)

You’ve gone 6 weeks without a takeaway? 😳

Why?!!!

For gods sake, man, have a curry!!

We’ve had plenty. The new favourite being a mighty meaty pizza with extra jalapeños and a whole portion of donner meat on top! Filthy! 😃

I was talking to the guy who does my printing this afternoon. He’s a young single bloke, living on his own. He’s been having them virtually every night.

He’s still very much alive and he’s actually lost weight as he’s been running 10+ miles a day during lockdown

Hmmmm. Wife just gave me that disapproving look. Poppadams and dips, that hot-but-not-crazy tingle of loveliness, mushroom rice, garlic naan and saag aloo. I could eat it x 2 easily!

Food hygiene standards should eradicate the risk to minimal if it’s a good takeaway or make your own.

So far in 7 weeks have had 4 trips to the chippy, a Turkish, 2 lots of takeaway pizza and a chinese.
no curry yet, need to fix that soon.
Get your takeaway ordered, plus from what I have seen round here the takeaways seem much more organised than the supermarkets in terms of reducing contact

1st Indian takeaway last saturday night after many weeks of fakeaway curries. It was fantastic, also having a night off from cooking was a treat.

It's your civic duty to support your local takeaway.

I've had chippy teas, Indian, Chinese, wood fried pizza and bao buns since this hell started 😊

For anyone near Hassop Lovely pizza 🍕

And you can get your milk refilled at the dairy farm 50 yards down the road. I'm eating uber healthy at home but also living like a King. It's tough but...

funkmasterp - we have been lucky with having 2 of them at the end of the road.
The Turkish was the best though as it did 3 meals in total. Lovely food

The kebab bloke at the entrance to the industrial estate I used to work on reopened last week, and I’ve had a couple, in fact I’ll be going up there shortly for one, to save me cooking anything, my g/f is working late, and won’t be getting herself anything’cos she won’t be in until nearly 9.
I might have to wait a bit, he’s always really busy.

Yep, had several. The local chippy has been open so picked one up each Friday during lockdown after dropping off my parents shopping. Our favourite Indian has been open so we had a couple of those in the first two weeks and for the last 3 weeks or so our favourite chinese has been open for takeaways again. Be rude not to support them. 🙂 Time my Saturday ride so that I go out a bit later, order on my way back and pick up as I go past. Perfect

They've been trialing the delivery robots on our estate this week

Robots can't catch coronavirus so that's that sorted !

Do it @Kelvin! Have a kebab! 😂

The takeaway places we have used all have hygiene ratings of 5, so getting food off them is probably a damn site safer than nipping down the shops to get stuff to cook yourself

That’s my story and I’m sticking with it!

Aw man! No takeaway anywhere near me and none that would deliver. I'm feeling both deprived and hungry seeing what you lot have had!

Nothing since before 13th March when my wife became suspect and we were all wfh.

I’d need to go to cash machine though Binners…

I’ll raid the cupboards for something curry like… and throw lime pickle on it.

Absolutely not for me, but I'm clearly in the minority.

If I was closer to Rudy's I might be tempted though.

I would if I wanted to, but haven't had the urge. Supposedly you come out of lockdown either a chunk or a hunk - I'm down a stone on top of two I lost between New Year and the end of March...

The takeaway across the street from me is full blast though - they are churning them out.

A pal did send me some photos of recipes out of the Dishoom cookbook which has helped me out.
I love that restaurant and was taking my pal and his new wife there as a wedding gift - in the first week of lockdown, denied!

I have also been looking up how to make German Doner Kebabs at home, and think I will try my own Chinese shredded chilli chicken tomorrow.

Though, the thought of a piping hot, fresh chip roll with the vinegar and butter mingling keeps resurfacing.... I have never fancied getting a chippy delivered though - imagine it goes a bit soggy?

I’d need to go to cash machine though

what is this cash nonsense? Not used any cash for ages took £30 out of cash machine on 8th March, it is still in wallet today. Guessing all takeaway will take card payment over phone now.

Indian on Friday, Chinese on Sunday. Pondering chippy for this Friday.

They're open, they need the money coming in, you want the tasty goodness. Get on with it.

A few takeaways since the end of the world here. Pizza, kebab, curry.

The local chippy opened last weekend so hopefully now the rush is over I'll get one in. Not had a Chinese yet though and that's what I'm really missing😥

Oh and @bruneep, of all the takeaways here (six in the town) not one of them has contactless or card facilities, cash only.

We're only just on the Hereford/Worcester border as well, so not even the bumhole of nowhere...

Paranoia remains mostly high in our house. We unpack take-aways, put the food in different dishes, which then go in the oven for ten mins or so at 100 degrees.

Delivery times seems longer, so the food benefits from a boost anyway 🙂

We survived till last week. Local family run chippy opened with click and collect, so did that - very efficient. Then the local family run Italian, restaurant ordered srarters and mains, full meal from them - they delivered on time and food lush.

Some random takeaway, nope. We dealt with both direct - chippy got a little web site up, Italian was phone in.

Looking like the Italian again for my wife's Birthday, next month. They have a fab spare rib starter in an orange sauce - it's to die for....messy death.....

PS I've cooked every meal for 4 adults (I'm WFH, wife furlough, son WFH, daughter college from home = I am a muq), and all meals have been really good as I've had time, and I enjoy it, but the chippy and local Italian was awesome.

We've had a takeaway from our local pub every week since the lockdown began. They've only been open again for less than a year since a catastrophic fire saw them closed for a year and a half. They're a huge asset to our rural community, so it's only right we support them. They even do takeaway draught beer and cider.

Not helping on the weight front, obvs.

I didn’t do it the end!
Found some prawns in the freezer and had a Spice Tailor Southern Pepper curry pouch so chucked it together with some mushrooms, onions and a sprinkle of coriander with rice and a pitta from the freezer!
Not the same I know but was passable. Interestingly the wife’s warmed to the idea so a Salim’s could be on the cards this weekend as the overwhelming feedback from you lot was ‘f*ck yeah’ so nice one 🤟🏼

3 x Indian, 1 x Chinese and the kids have had 2 x Dominos.

However I have to drive 7-8 miles for both the Indian or Chinese but assume this is allowed anyway? Essential food shopping.

Go to the curry guy website or get one of his books.

The garlic chilli chicken recipe is spot on.

Seeing as a grounded pilot needs something to occupy himself with I now spend half my life cooking! Saturday is homemade pizza, Sunday is a roast, Monday is curry with the leftover meat, halloumi tikka & homemade naan!

I might try that garlic chilli chicken!

We’ve probably averaged a takeaway a week since it kicked off. Mostly pizza, a curry and a Chinese.

We’ve been careful though, not to the extent of reheating, but only I touch the packages and then I was my hands before I eat. I’m working on the assumption that the cooked food will still be hot enough to kill a virus when they put it in the tubs/box

I’ve lost half a stone still in lockdown, that’s down to me doing about 7 hours a week on the turbo

I trust my local takeaways, if I didn't I wouldn't eat from them ever and because I do I would still eat from them now. Wish the chinese was open though 🙁

The kebab I had earlier was excellent, although I had to wait twenty five minutes or so for it, and that was at 7pm. He’s just off the main A350 and A420 junction, plus Chippenham is quite a big town, so he’s not hurting for customers.

We had Papa John's on my birthday, only time we've had one in lockdown. To be fair, other than a Friday chippy tea, we rarely have any other takeaways.

Village chippy is rather good and their new click and collect gets overwhelmed every night they open - Thursday-Saturday. I'm keeping out the way, but delighted he's kept it going, he does a lot of stuff supporting village clubs and activities. The council run care home got free chippy teas in VE Day.

Fish and Chips x 3
Kebabs x 1 (although ordered two for me as couldnt decide out of tikka or dirty donna...)
Pasty Delivery
Four Course Meal

This week we are having takeaway delivered from a local Mexican restaurant and the week after we are ordering Chinese! House Special fried rice, salt and chilli chips, salt and chilli chicken and some chicken balls split between two...

I’ve just had a run and “accidentally” came home via the local butty van.
Good social and distancing and an even better bacon and sausage sarny to go.
This will 100% be repeated.

Had a couple of epic roast dinners from a friend's pub up the road (via drive-thru).

Two Chinese takeaways, both excellent.

Posh burgers from a place in town, but they were gash due to their meat suppliers letting them down.

Can't wait for local delis to start doing takeouts again.
