Anyone else watch it last night ? Thought Tom Hardy was pretty good in it as the dark broody main character .
...........which is such a departure for him 🙂
I only caught the last 25 mins or so but it looked interesting. Might watch it.
True 🙂
I think we spotted 3 ex Game of Thrones actors in the cast .
I enjoyed it. Tom Hardy playing his usual half hinged mentalist as well as ever. Will there be a bloodbath at some point?
Yup, very enjoyable. Hardy doing what he does best.
i.e. gruffly mumbling
I guess I've missed some of his films but I've seen TH do other roles.
TTSP? That one where it's just him driving on the speaker phone?
My mate is in it, rowing people about, he had great fun making it.
Episode two then. Entertaining but I'm not sure the tone is 100%. It's almost funny the way Hardy kind of marches about everywhere, and there is comedy in there...I'll keep watching.
Every time I hear the title this pops into my head.
Was interesting to Scroobius Pip involved too.
It's not flawless by any means, but it's entertaining enough and something different from the usual anodyne Saturday night fare.
If nothing else, brave of the BBC to stick it up at weekend primetime when this kind of thing would normally be hiding on BBC2 at 9 on a midweek night.
Thirty minutes of an enjoyable if quite predictable story, and thirty minutes of Tom Hardy walking in a purposeful and menacing manner.
nice gritty stuff with the small pox faces, rotten teeth and the roughest prostitutes.
"It's almost funny the way Hardy kind of marches about everywhere"
Almost? Makes me laugh out loud.
Watchable tosh IMHO, with some reasonably good, if cliched, characters.
Few thing SWMBO and I can both watch so that's something.
Watched Ep1 again last night so I could get more of the backstory. Liking it so far.
Want to see TH in a departure from the norm?
Last nights episode was better than last week , his healing / recovery rate is chuffin amazeballs .

I thought the same. Mirage, or Taboo... Which one are you?
I watched this on recommendation from my wee brother, I couldn't get into it though, dunno if it was just me, I was kinda distracted when I was watching it though, might give it another go.
Funny I searched for a thread on this last week 😳
Excellent TV, Ridley Scott, Tom Hardy, BBC costume drama at it's best. Have't seen episdoe 4 yet so avoiding reading thread above in case of spoilers
There aren't any, you're good.
"Driving on the phone " =Locke
It's the nearest thing I've ever seen on TV to conveying the filth and the darkness of life before electricity.

+1
An the purposefull walking everywhere...
I do like it ,its got a very GOT high quality feel to it....must be the Ridley.
needs some "scratch and sniff" cards issued for that authentic regency ambience.
I like the popper on his jacket.
😉
Really enjoying this so far. Nicely paced and seems to be coming up the the boil at the moment!
+1 on the purposeful walking, I'm gonna have to try that while going to get milk!! 😆

Have a grumble while you're at it.
Wondering how they're going to ramp up the violence and depravity for the series finale...
Keep having to check that I'm actually watching BBC1 primetime Saturday and not Netflix, Amazon or HBO.
It's quite brilliant

It's quite brilliant
Agreed. By no means perfect, but one of the most interesting bits of TV on any channel/service I've seen for quite a while.
Hmmm.
It's very funny.
Sometimes in a good way, watching the East India crew trying to outact each other, most of the rest of the cast, but mostly not.
Especially not Mark Gatiss.
Again.
Nothing happens.
It's all moody frottaging and walking about.
Apparently, there's going to be a second series.
🙂
Oh, and why hasn't Brace, the servant, got rotten teeth like everyone else?
