looking for something that'll cope with a bit of surfing and reading the ST mag. thinking o a 7" may work for me, but unsure whether 9" or 10" would be better to go for, although battery life may be compromised.

Also, budget is around the £50 area, so nowt flashy, just a cheap and cheerful one. trouble is, ebay is full of chinese imports that are a bit poo, so it's difficult to know what's OK and what's not.

also, can't afford a galaxy tab2 or a nexus 7 so no good recommending those.

anyone hit budget gold with a cheap and cheerful tab?

loads on offer at morgan at the moment

http://www.morgancomputers.co.uk/c/563/Tablets-Touchscreens/

dont expect too much at that price point. They'll all frustrate you one way or another.

The blackberry one is obsolete, doesnt have access to all google apps and weighs a ton, but it probably runs the smoothest of them all.

The arnova one is OK but I found it a bit unresponsive when fiddling with it in HMV a year ago.

Somertek is morgan computers own brand of stuff so dont expect too much.

Are blackberry's still obsolete given that RIM set a task for the public to port android apps to blackberry a while back? not sure how far it went though?

cheers ayhow, not expecting much at all at my budget, but would rather slightly unresponsive than total tosh...:-)

The ones for less than probably £100 aren't worth it. I got some for me and the kids at Christmas none of them get used any more, I flogged mine on ebay. Ok as e-readers and for watching the odd video but painfully slow online. I nearly bought the archos 80 from carphone warehouse, that didn'tseem to bad, in the end iI shelled out for an Ipad mini, and i don't regret it.
