Samsung galaxy tab. We all just bought father in law one for his birthday. £160 from John Lewis with free extended warranty and delivery

I'd also vote for a Samsung Tab A 10.1 having bought a load for an education project.

Vodafone have them on a data deal that would cost and extra 60 quid over two years to have 2GB of mobile data if that would be handy.

Refurb iPad from eg Argos on eBay. Typically just returns so as-new. Especially if you have an iPhone already as you can share the purchases.

i believe (but could be wrong) that google aren't putting money into tablet Android, and it's all going into ChromeOS (which will come out as a tablet). Made me buy a chromebook last time i was looking

I bought one of those Geordie Howway Mediapads and the only negative is a lack of 3.5mm headphone jack oh and no NFC charging for when the USB C gives up on life...
