We've just watched Eat well for less on tv , I can't believe how appallingly the children were allowed eat .
They're on a tv programme about food with a film crew in the house -not secret filming without thier knowledge and no effort was made by them or the parents to eat with even half decent manners .
Is this the norm now , dont parents teach children how act at meal times .
I grew up in council houses and we sat at a table and behaved , ate with our mouths closed and new how hold a knife and fork .

I believe some people actually eat their meals whilst watching TV (probably Eat well for less).

Do people really have a cupboard full of crisps? Or was that just faked to outrage people like me?

POSTED 14 MINUTES AGO # REPORT-POST

In theory I guess it could exist but how practical keeping it stocked would be I'm not sure.

ate with our mouths closed

I thought it was just my dad who was stupid, or perhaps a foreigner with a poor grasp of the English language.

You can't eat with your mouth closed but you can chew with your mouth shut. Obviously I never told him that as I would have got a swift backhander.

Good manners were thrashed into me, although I did think it was rather rude to hit a child.

When people get home at different times or have say sports/music lessons which require an early or late dinner. When my kids where little I was rarely home before 7 usually 8 or 8:30 at least 3 nights a week.

OP I think many people where not taught table manners and have nothing to pass on.

We used to have a Wall of Crisps when I was a kid- stacks of retail-sized cardboard boxes full of em. We didn't actually eat any more crisps than any other family, my dad just abused the trade account his office had every so often would arrive home with his own body weight in dairy milks, or 5 years supply of tea bags. But if social services had ever visited and seen the crisps, well.
