Table Football - purchase?

Long shot but any experts in?

I think I would like to buy a table football table for home.  Probably as a kids xmas present as we all enjoy playing when we see one in public (apart from feeding the cash)

There appear loads of cheap ones on ebay, is this because

a) they are rubbish compared to commercial ones?

b) the owners got bored really quick - will we?

Ideally would like a folder for obvious space saving but again are these noticeably more rubbish compared with commercial tables.  What is the standard / minimum size.

Any other comments and recommendations very much welcome.

thanks

I bought a folder from John Lewis, had to build it from flat pack so glued in all joints for extra strength.  Was well used and a bit rusty, sold it on mktplace, must have had 20 offers for about half the purchase price.  They pop up in charity shops, I saw one yesterday for 20 quid which is a steal, but it had gone today.

NO SPINNING !!

B

The money you've feed into public ones is petty change in comparison to how much each game will cost from buying one for home.

Also applicable to pool tables and table tennis.

Hopefully we might use our pool table over the xmas period ??

I'd really like one at home too, one day. May get one soonish as the boy's about the right age now. IMO they need a fair bit of weight to them to get a decent game, and you need the right balance of player shape and material, ball weight etc. or they feel a bit off. The heavy metal players with the cork ball I never personally liked. Garlando with the lighter ball is what I'd like but the pub table with the glass top there is about £1000 (!!) nowadays. You should get the old theft-proof ashtrays and four pint holders for that though 😜. Although they make home tables at anything from £200 to that level. I guess if you're after the game you're used when out and about you're in for either big money or a bit of a compromise but maybe the cheaper Garlandos are good, I'd like to have a go to find out.
