I'm about to change my mobile provider from Orange to either T-mobile or Vodaphone. Anyone have any views on the above question?
Ta
I moved to vodafone from O2 a couple of months ago. Have been sorely disappointed with the data bandwidth available in certain locations. Network coverage is OK, but they just dont have the capacity at key sites like around paddington.
I went from Orange to T-Mob because they offered the best deal on the phone I wanted and the fact that the Orange and T-Mob networks are to merge soon potentially giving the best coverage in this area.
IMO Vodafone customer service is far better than all the others - that, and the reason they tend to stock the phones I want, are why are stay with them.
Voda have better coverage. along with O2, they use a stronger (higher) signal frequency according to one of their tech guys I was speaking to.
I personally prefer O2 customer service and is the only thing keeping with them as I find Vodafone staff clueless (other than the technical guys, who do know their stuff!).
Find vodafone excellent way better than orange who my wife is with.
Looks like its going to be Vodaphone then.
Cheers all

I've had completely the opposite experience. I had a Voda contract that I was happy with, but Voda obviously didn't want me on and kept hassling me to change. In the end I did and for the next 18 months, EVERY bill was incorrect with certain bits taken off or added on seemingly randomly. So, I was having to ring them everytime a bill arrived and get them to correct it. After 18 months they managed to sort it.
Earlier this year I was called by Vodafone as someone had tried to fraudulently access my account but was told not to worry as they had realised it wasn't me and hadn't applied any of the attempted changes. I then kept getting texts welcoming me to new packages (like Sky TV on my phone) and 3 times I rang Vodafone to tell them that something had changed as I was now getting these texts but everytime I was told that nothing had been altered.
Then about a month later I got a call from someone checking that I was happy with my new contract and phone and to see how I was getting on with it. I proceeded to have a lengthy conversation with the woman that I hadn't changed my phone or contract and explained the previous months phone call from Vodafone. I then asked where 'my' new phone had been delivered and it was a flat in Birmingham (not my address). At this point the penny dropped and a fraud investigation was launched on my account.
It was recommended that I add another security PIN & question to my account, but in the following weeks no one asked for it when ringing up. Initially they said I would have to pay for this upgraded contract until I blew a gasket and they said they'd give me it for the price I had been paying, but I couldn't have my old tariff back as that had been discontinued.
I spoke them them about leaving and they did their 'best' to keep me onboard, offering me tariffs and phones that were available on their site and no more......it was only when they got my letter to terminate the contract that they started ringing up everyday asking if I'd like to reconsider & they would offer me x, y and z deals if I stayed.
Bit of a lengthy post, but I'd had enough and went to T-Mobile. So far, so good. The tariffs were much better and I haven't really had to use customer services, but when I have they have been OK (famous last words)!
Their website is excellent as well in terms of handling your account.
Network service has so far been fine too and most places I have been I have had access to HSPDA, not just 3G.
I had to change my work T Mobile to Vodafone as I just couldn't get a signal. We changed contracts to T Mobile as we're a German company essentially, and got good prices.. but I had really poor signal virtually everywhere, and 0 at home where it was needed (I can be on 24 hour call).
The final straw was spending a week at HQ in Germany, and it not working in the hotel either.
Personal vodafone has been flawless, customer service has been good though it's rare I talk to them.. plus my neighbour works for vodafone and I can register my phone with his femtocell 🙂
Vodafone thrash everyone on signal, including orange.
Thanks again all.
One question. Is the voicemail free on Vodafone or do you have to pay an amount per minute that you are listening to your messages?
"Voda have better coverage. along with O2, they use a stronger (higher) signal frequency according to one of their tech guys I was speaking to".
This isn't true for 3G - Voda use the same frequency range as everyone else but have significantly fewer 3G transmitters than Three.
A recent Ofcom publication shows just how limited Vodafone's 3G coverage is. Orange's 2G network is the same size as Vodafone and is used by Three for areas where there's no 3G coverage giving the best of both worlds. Having just left Vodafone for Three, the difference in coverage is pretty surprising given Vodafone's claims for their superior network coverage.

beamers - I think with Voda that voicemail calls are included in your inclusive minutes.
