Definitely in my top five most boring questions to ask on here, but anyway.
My daughter is now a grown up, technically anyway. So it’s time she sorted out her own mobile phone instead of me doing it. She has one of two numbers on my Vodafone account. Here are the problems…
- We can’t transfer that number to her on Vodafone unless we are both in the same place to confirm the transfer. (She lives several hundred miles away).
- Similarly, she can’t register for VOXI (part of Vodafone) with that number because it recognises that it’s on an account under a different name (mine).
- We switched it from Pay Monthly to PAYG as Vodafone said that would make it simpler, which appears not be the case.
- If she moved to EE, could she simply request a PAC code from Vodafone and transfer her number to EE? It seems that all the difficulties are because VOXI are part of Vodafone and therefore know that that number belongs to me. EE wouldn’t, nor would Vodafone know it wasn’t me signing up to EE.
I don’t care what network she’s on, all the PAYG SIM bundles are about the same.
Is that the simplest option?
I did very similar last month. Two Tesco accounts, me and daughter. Wanted to move her to EE and port number. Online bots couldn't understand it. Phoned up EE, with her PAC. Spoke to a human. Sorted in 5 mins. It shouldn't be too difficult if you can get through to an actual person.
Ok cheers, I’ll try that.
