Need to collect passengers from the Swiss side of GVA soon (on a Saturday) - I'll be coming from Annecy, collecting, then heading for Morzine. Not going back after that.
Don't have a vignette on the car. This is the only time we'll be in Switzerland with the car this year, so I'm a bit reluctant to pay £30 for a few miles of Toblerone-covered motorway.
How feasible is it to reach the Swiss side of the airport without using any motorways? Someone must know! I've seen some suggested routes online, but keen to hear first-hand.
can they walk through to the french side of the airport? on the left and up the stairs from memory.

Yep, tis possible. I did it a couple of times. You need to be happy about driving through a strange city on reasonably busy roads mind. You to follow the motorway around as if going to Chamonix and then when south of Geneva you can turn back and come straight through the centre and out to the airport, returning the same way. There is another way but is much more involved
If you don't fancy driving through the city then take french D roads round to the north and come in via the CERN research centre and go back the same way. Will add about 20 miles to the journey

In olden days before the Swiss motorway went straight to the airport, the route from Chamonix was quite pleasant; you went straight on through the border down into Geneva in a NW direction, hit the lake by the Jet d'Eau, went round a one-way system, crossed the river and headed straight out to the airport.

Of course, going via the city means a good chance of a falafel wrap at Parfums de Beyreuth, not far from the lake. High quality sandwich.
Depending how much stuff they’re bringing they can get 1 hour free transport passes from the baggage collection area.
1 hour will get them to central Geneva and a tram to say bernex (where I live) which is an easy collection point.
I literally did this on Sunday, drove across the border near Thonon l Bains then continued in along the lake, past the Geyser thing, acoss a bridge and up through the city, no problems at all. The airport is pretty well signposted within the city centre.
Ah I misread that as vinaigrette. I have nothing to offer re vignettes.
Just go into Geneva via Annemasse, then back out that way to Taninges and up to morzine. Done it loads of time from Samoens and back.
