Just exploring this but unclear if I need an Ant + Dongle or will an IPad just connect to my Smart Trainer by Bluetooth? Want to avoid the expense of a Dongle if possible obviously......

You mean Zwift?

What's your turbo? It may work with bluetooth, many do.

I don’t use Zwift but yes, so long as your trainer is Bluetooth it should work.

Sorry yes <span style="text-decoration: underline;">Z</span>wift?!

Its a Tacx Flow so yes I it is Bluetooth or ANT +

I was happily using Zwift on my HP ProBook, with a USB ANT+ dongle but it has gone all flickery now and I can hardly see anything so was looking at just using an old Ipad but didn't want to spend £80 on another dongle.

It works fine with an iPad, it's my only option for using Zwift really. Once you load the app it will find the trainer quite quick and then you're up and running.

I'm using it with a Tacx Flow (the Halfrauds special) and have no issues.

I also use the tacx flow and it works with ipad fine via bluetooth. The only problem is that your other sensors if you wear them have to be bluetooth as well (hr monitor, cadence).

As above the flow is fine with ios. Get a cheap bluetooth hrm from Amazon, etc (search for coospo) and you're sorted

How old is your iPad? They’re not all compatible with Zwift as I found out last year.

Yes should work if it’s Bluetooth. I have a Wahoo gen1 & works well. Look into the Tacx handlebar frame for the iPad & I find it works best if the iPad has a mains supply as mine seems to deplete v quickly running Zwift.

Hmmm, I'm just trying my wife's iPad 2 but not compatible it seems. Very frustrating!!! 😣

I found Bluetooth and Zwift a PITA. ANT seems to work reliably without fuss every time. Dongles are 12 quid!
