Sitting in my post night shift haze and idly browsing vans on eBay as I do now and again.
Noticed a few SWB Ducato that are pretty keenly priced compared to similar age/mileage vans of the next size down and wondered just how much of a pain the extra height and width might be in daily use?
My old T5 had a ladder rack so wouldn’t go in multi stories etc. I’m used to driving a Boxer as that’s what our motorhome is based on.
The extra width seems handy for fitting bikes etc in as well as for work related load lugging.
Anyone run one as a ‘daily’ and care to share opinions/advice?
Ive also been looking at swb Vitos which I’ve previously discounted. Other end of the scale size wise I suppose though. That’s night for you!

There are loads of SWB Boxer/Ducato in France, they buy local rather than a Ford Transit or VW. You get a lot more room for your money.

Check out the safety here....it should buff out

We've converted a L2H2 (MWB, mid height) Relay (same van as Ducato / Boxer) into a camper and I've been using it as a daily driver for a few months over the summer.

Width not an issue - sometimes a little snug in very tight car parks, but mostly fits OK. Probably less of a problem than a decent sized coupe car with big doors.

Length of 5.4m generally not an issue - fits into supermarket parking spaces, etc. Sometimes have to hunt for roadside parking spaces big enough. The SWB (5m??) should be a doddle.

Height - I think once you go above ~ 2.1 / 2.2 m you have to pay attention to height restrictions. I'm not convinced the 2.5m H2 would be much less convenient than the 2.3m H1, but does give fairly generous standing headroom in the back (if that matters to you).

Pleasant enough to drive, but a medium sized, car derived van will almost certainly handle a lot better (if that matters to you).
