Hello all. We are thinking of trading in our 06 T5 for a 2011 caddy. We are finding that we are not camping in it as much as we did when we first had it so we no longer need the space for sleeping. Hoping that the caddy will be more economical. Anyone done a swap and loved it or regretted it?

my mate went from a swb t4 transporter with a second row of sears to a much newer caddy maxi life. (which is LWB)

reckons he has more usuable space than his t4 due to easily removable seats - its lower but its plenty long , mostly he just carrys bikes and has no requirement for sleeping in it often.

We've just gone the other way.
57 plate caddy to 04 plate transporter.

The gear box died in the caddy circa 130k we would have had it replaced (expensive but worth it due to the residual price of the van) but got a really good trade in and we needed the extra space.

Sometimes I miss the Caddy, especially if i'm riding on my own. But when we go away for the weekend or riding with my mates theres no way i'd go back to the Caddy. The main reason is space two bikes in the back with all the kit is OK, any more and its a push.

The transporter on the other hand managed two bikes three kayaks + associated gear, all our mountian gear + our dog and we still had loads of space to spare!

For reference
Caddy was the old style 1.9tdi 105, getting 35/40 MPG
Transporter is 2.5 130, getting 30/35mpg

Had a decent t5 now have a '12 plate caddy. Probably a nicer place to be, easier to manouvre, obviously less space, but i'll be sleeping it solo as opposed to two up in the t5.

It's a yellow T5. 125k on the clock. Sportline alloys, body colour bumpers, tailgate, spoiler. Ply lined and carpeted floor. Few minor cosmetic issues ie damage to wing mirrors. Not totally sure on price if we are selling private plus as a trade in we've been offered more than expected, but still not great and not near what we'd hope to get for it private.

Good to hear no one has massively regretted it.... Yet!
