Just got some goods (not going to name and shame) - all nicely wrapped in paper in recyclable packaging etc. etc. and then they chuck in a disposable plastic pen with their log on. Face alm moment. Sigh.
Sorry I don't understand .... did you want them to include a free pencil?
AFAIA most pens are made of plastic and, even now, we need pens around the house/office.
At least they sent you something with a {future} use.

Someone then wrote to the local paper askig how much it had cost, so they asked the council and they said 'nothing, the money came from DEFRA'. It's still taxpayers money you ****ing halfwit! Just because it didn't come out of your pot means bugger all, we are still paying for it

This is no different to every "sustainable" conference or event I've been to in the last 5 years who hand me a reusable mug (plastic), a hessian bag (really?) and a wedge of paper fliers (sigh).
I had an ad on my Facebook for some kind of adventure race that was claiming to be supporting "the environment" somehow. Maybe they were going to plant a few trees or something, I don't know. It was on Mull, which means that almost all the entrants would have to travel quite some distance to get there. I pointed this out in a comment and it got deleted 🙂

Because otherwise people would just put the Organic Granny Smith's through the self checkouts as the much cheaper pesticide riddled Granny Smith's.
And they probably sell a lot more of the cheap ones so it's less plastic overall.
Adidas make a 5:10 which is 50% recycled ocean plastics. However, they've also stopped supplying repair centres with stealth rubber for resoles.

We never got one.
Still no bloody food recycling bin though despite running a massive local trial a few years ago.
My pet hate is food outlets providing compostable trays/cutlery, but they just have a mixed bin onsite for everything to go in. If you don't supply a bin for food waste and compostable packaging, its all going to landfill or incineration...neither of which will result in any compost!
‘your definition of sustainability is not sustainable’ normally stops whatever BS is being spouted at the time in my experience.
Shelter sent out a branded hessian bag to all their supporters the other month - total and utter waste of money and resources. Ours just went straight in the charity bag.
