If I wanted to go off road from Box Hill / West Humble to Leith Hill Tower what route would you reccomend? I was thinking something liek get to top of Ranmore Common, go along the ridge and drop towards Westcott is this do able and is there a visible route at the bottom of Ranmore?

depends if you're in a hurry. There's a BW that cuts straight east-west across the hill above the vineyard. Or you could get into Ranmore, follow your nose and keep your eyes out for trails. You might find some fun stuff in there.

theres a couple of options but from Ranmore drop down next to the campsite on the 'cyclists dismount' route over the railway line, follow your nose to Westcott st and turn right where the big pink house is. at the end (A25) turn left and immediately right up a lane....follow for 500m past the mill house and turn left up the bridle way....keep going from there.

If you're coming from bottom of box, just go through Denbies and up: can either take the nice smooth 'Denbies Tour' route or keeping heading straight up the steeper chalky bridleway here...

...or head through Denbies and then use Ranmore coach road...ride up ranmore road (Yes you could use the FP that runs along the side of St Martins school but its narrow and only leads to grief with walkers) and just passed the dump is a bridleway that goes around the house and leads to the coach road...

....that'll go up then back down and then all the way to the side of Westcott via Balchins Lane. Get on Wolverns then up to Leith.

If you coming from Box or Mickleham, via Norbury Park is nice and then around Polesden and up to Ranmore

Have a look at this:
http://singletrackmag.com/trailguide/files/2008/12/the-north-downs-medium-route.pdf

Follow the BW nedrapier mentions to get to Whitedowns then the nice singletrack to Abinger Roughs. Go through this then up past Paddington Farm to Holmbury - you can go up Holmbury Hill, then Yoghurt Pots before taking 'The Mother' up to the Tower. There's then singletrack all the way back to the A25 from where the Coach Road will bring you back to Dorking or Ranmore if you want.. great circuit, do it all the time and its a real workout. Enjoy!
