Went to see 'greatest days' last night with Mrs monkey...

Want really looking forward to a  Take That musical film, but the wife wanted to see it being a massive take that fan..

Surprisingly good film in that British style, well written, funny, sad, good storyline & storytey and a good stage~big screen adaptation.

What have you seen recently that ticket all the boxes?

The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent is an amusing throwaway film I watched on the plane the other day. Nic Cage  parodies himself really quite well and it had some genuinely laugh out loud moments.

and though it’s not that recent, Whiplash is incredible

By contrast I really do resent the time I wasted watching that total turd of a film.

Watched that recently too and really enjoyed it

I sort of resent the time lost trying to decipher the OP.

Are you saying you were made to watch a musical about (tax dodger) Gary Barlow and chums and despite your misgivings enjoyed it?

Was that at least in part because you were drunk? And still might be...

I think the best resent film I've seen recently was the Joker. He really resented the way he was treated by people around him.

The Descent is also a decent film.

I think you should all have a little Patience with the OP's spelling. It's clear they weren't having their Greatest Day.

how about just mention a film you like instead of replying to say how shit someone else's choice is? It makes the thread flow a lot better.

Film is not about take that. And yes I actually enjoyed it - even if you disregard the music, it's a good film.

Whiplash?  I absolutely loved it.  Thought there were some outstanding acting performances and loved the music, incredible to listen to it turned up.  Just shows, we don't all like the same stuff 🙂

Apart from Greatest Day - I wou;dn't say the film mentioned are resent [sic]

Whiplash is old and agreeing with joshvegas, an overrated bag of shite.
I didn't make it to the end of that Nic Cage thing either. Pure stupidity.
In the opposite to the STW way, I'll recommend some alternatives, instead of just slagging what other people have said (they're only my opinions, get over it!)
Recent Guy Ritchie Afghanistan film (Netflix I think), was a surprise for me. Riveting, especially the battle stuff at the start - The Covenant
Saw a horror called The Harbinger which was a pleasant (or unpleasant, depends how you look at it) surprise.
My brother says Sisu is really good. That would be a surprise cos I saw the trailer at the cinema and it looked well silly. Not watched it myself yet, but will.

Every now and again I lower my standards and don't filter out the content I watch just to see what I've been missing. Well it has ranged from dog shit to barely watchable, so back to being a bit more fussy I think.

Dungeons and Dragons - **** my life what a pile.

Everybody Everywhere all at Once - Enjoyable silliness but labours the point in the third act!

Triangle of Sadness - Not bad little satire.

The Green Knight - Has some good moments but didn't work as a whole to me.

The Last Duel - Watchable loosely based on a true story.

Inheritance (2020) - Simon Pegg pretty good some alright bits but silly and unbelievable.

EO - Polish film about a donkey! Yeah it's on the list to watch.

The Innocents - Again on the list to watch!

Some of them were so bad I can't remember the titles. Thankfully I didn't pay for the privilege!

yep it’s pretty good…

Pfft. How about you learn how to quote it literally makes a thread flow better....

While do think it's a hugely over rated bag of turds I rather thought I was obviously rolling with the thread title typo.

Is there a 2023 film thread or am I imagining it?
Saw The Creator yesterday, generally very good. First time watching in iMac as well.

She Said is probably the best thing I've watched that came out recently. Story of the reporters who broke the Weinstein story. A very tough watch in places

Not a recent film, but out on release now.   Stop Making Sense.  A good afternoon last week watching it at the Cameo.

“The Meg” is everything that you’d expect a film about a giant shark with Jason Statham in it.

Switch off your brain, don’t think, and enjoy.

One of the most surprising films I enjoyed recently.

Licorice Pizza was really good, not sure if that was a surprise though.

Really enjoyed Barbie too, but that was incredibly popular so possibly not relevant here either.

I used to have unlimited card and it seemed there was something of interest on most weeks, but things seemed to turn crap a few years before Covid and now I rarely bother.

That said, if you pretend you are a 13yr old kid before taking a seat, then Dungeons & Dragons is awesome.

Succession is pretty decent on Now TV for adults.
