woke up with a very tender and swollen right foot about 5 days ago.

it gradually got worse over the last 4 days. very sore, hot to touch and red and swollen.

went to see the doctor this morning, who sent me straight to the hospital for a xray and to see a orthopedic doctor.

out come is, so metal work in my fused ankle is not right, and has caused a infection. i am now on a waiting list to go in for the metalwork removing.

no idea how it has happened, and no idea of the cause. bloods taken to check for stuff. fingers crossed nothing serious.

shit happens eh.............

That's rubbish, hope it calms down with antibiotics while you're waiting.

Oh bum Ton, this getting old lark can be a right pain in the bum if you are carrying injury from past endeavours.

Good for you getting it checked rather than leaving it for 2 months like I did and leaving myself with a whole raft of complications!

had it in about 7 years mate.    ankle fusion due to arthritis.

been ok up to a week ago.  could do long walks and everything on it, no problem.

fingers crossed it may calm down.

Best of luck, hope the antibiotics kick in.

Keep on top if it and don't let things like weekends delay getting it looked at / different drugs etc, if it gets worse or flares up again.  Without going into the grim details, someone I know had 2 years of total hell with a bone infection / re-infection, and the phrase a stitch in time saves nine is so true.

Argh, that sounds awful.  I hope it you get it sorted and in the mean time the antibiotics calm it down.

Also, I didn’t know that could happen either. I have to decide whether to have mine taken out and that is an interesting contribution to the weighing up process.

I thought this was going to be about a major case of constipation that could only be solved with surgical help.

Hope you're back on your feet and out on the bike soon, Ton.
