I want to cycle to the beach rather than driving so want to transport a board or 2. Seen various options of seatpost / headtube mounts as well as trailers (good for carrying gear too). loads of options available outside UK but limited options now we've left the EU...
Anyone got experience of what works well or doesn't?
Anyone got one they want to sell?
board is 7ft. be good to have a universal fitting to swap between bikes
Thanks
I have one, northcore lowrider, it works well for my 5’10, bit of a nuisance if it’s windy. I normally use it to cycle to the local beach down a very eroded loose Boulder 4x4 track so need to tighten the bolts most trips. I think it would stay tighter if not abused off-road though!
Expensive but I got it during lockdown when the rules were you could surf if you didn’t drive to beach
I had a lowrider, I've also used a setup where wheels strap to the tail of the board, hook the nose to your saddle and it acts like a trailer. The latter avoids side-winds, but is a bit more vulnerable to cars not seeing it, and being more difficult to get around bumps etc
cheers both, looking like the lowrider may be the way to go.
good point on the trailer not being seen. already invisible to a lot of drivers as soon as you jump on a bike.
any other suggestions welcome
DIY rack and a bit of inspiration is this article from a year or so back:
amazing and inspirational. not sure I trust my diy skills to carry my precious cargo
DiY cycle cargo trainer sounds a good idea for an upcoming beach trip. Possible?
Reckon I need might a tandem for my 9'9'' cruiser.
