Why oh why can someone not make a hot chocolate drink that doesn't result in a big mess of choc choc in the bottom of your mug at the end?!?!

I find using a fork to stir it helps
You know you have to stir?
User error. Add wet to dry, work from mixing plaster to mixing cakes to err, making hot chocolate.

Add a little bit of water and stir until it's dissolved, then add the rest of the water - seems to do the job 😛

I do find that adding abit of water to the mug first, then choc, then water again helps as it stops it sticking to the bottom of the mug!
Same rules (generally) apply for gravy and cup o soups. If it is powdered, small amount of cold water mix to form a paste then add hot water to thicken. If it is granular, straight in with hot water and beat out the lumps.
why can't you get granular hot chocolate? works for coffee...
