All local art groups need support and this doesn't just mean buying paintings. Often, just visiting their exhibitions really matter. If they can show that they had one hundred, one thousand or how every many visitors, it gives them a louder voice when asking for access to other things. The council are more likely to allow parking in a nearby field, radio shows are more likely to promote future exhibitions....

Anyway, here is a 5 minute video of my local art groups exhibition showing the kind of thing you can expect and why they are different from traditional galleries. I hope you enjoy. Please leave comments and feedback, or even come visit it person.

Why don't you join in with Inktober? Be nice to see a different angle on the topics.

Hi Nick

Good topic. Did some studio visits during Hampshire Open Studios for the first time. Some good, some definitely not my taste, but interesting people and discussions far wider than art. Met a very passionate Jackie Leven fan (wife noticed a CD) who , strangely, was unfamiliar with Doll by Doll.

i think people feel that they may be under pressure to buy, which was certainly not my experience - although I did as a present for the Mother -in- Law.

Will definitely do it next opportunity.

Now do I call you "VD" or "Two-time Big Bike Bash Maltloaf Eating Champion"?

VD is more catching I think 😉

once stopped on a walk in Dorset by someone who recognised me as the TTBBBMLEC - but perhaps not quite as catchy

That seems to be pencil sketches rather than painting and I didn't want to derail it with something wildly different

It's whatever you want to do, I mostly do ink. You certainly wouldn't derail it with something different, I mean why would you even think that?! 🤣 Check how different stuff is in the thread. Doesn't even need to be inktober, just art.

I just looked at the last page. I will post up a few of my recent paintings and see what happens
