anyone know of a supplier for good quality cotton t shirts ?
cheers.
Gildan ultra cotton from tshirts online.
Fruits of the loom heavy cotton also from tshirts online.
Bought off the back of race shirts that have lasted phenomenally compared to others. No shrinking etc.
About 4 quid each.
By 'supplier' do you mean a shop you can buy yourself a teeshirt from or a wholesaler for buying in bulk.
* I appreciate that 'bulk' could just as easily refer to a single garment when the OP probably the largest character on the forum
Rapanui do mutlipacks 5 for £38 or so and I think size XXL is 48" chest
I think they run a little small but that might be big enough for you.
I bought some rapanui ones and they very quickly lost their shape.
You could try carhartt
Yeah, the Rapanui t's I got went baggy around the neck quite quickly.
Colorful Standard t-shirts are really nice quality but not particularly cheap.
M&S
Less than a tenner each and amazing quality.
I'm quite fussy. I've looked after my Ginko ones I bought in Vietnam for years. Disappointed by M&S but only last week found some £4 plain Ts at Tesco that feel good. I went back next day and bought 2 more and relegated a few oldies to bike cleaning rags.
We were sourcing some plain t-shirts a few years back to get silk screen printed
We got loads of samples of t-shirts from loads of different suppliers and the American Apparel ones were the best quality by miles. The fact that a lot of us are still wearing those same t-shirts we had printed years later, and they’re still in great nick, proved the point
Top quality gear and not pricey at all.
You were disappointed by M&S but bought Tesco?. Really ?
The Tesco ones are pretty poor compared.
Righty Ho.
Was an actual question but hey ho. Glad you're happy. Every little helps etc.
Conversely I literally live day in / day out in Rapanui plain t shirts and the cotton is still in great shape (literally and figuratively).
Uniqlo Supima cotton T shirts
I find the t-shirts that keep their shape best are the Sutsu ones I've bought from Sportpursuit. Especially as they are slightly longer than most and don't go baggy at the bottom.
They are Continental brand t-shirts. Can't remember which ones exactly but they are eco /fair wear ones I think.
They are a good shape and stay a good shape. Better than Rapanui which I hoped would be awesome but which are merely ok.
Gildan Hammer are sick. Heavy weight.
I ordered a t shirt from a small bike apparel company and was really impressed with the fit and feel of the t shirt, label says 100% Organic Cotton, the t shirt used was a Stanley/Stella Creator shirt linky, I then found this site Bar One Clothing based in Scotland (Linky) and ordered one to check, the one that arrived was the same, fitted and felt good so ordered 8 more.
There are a lot of colour options available, I use the first link to Stanley/Stella as it shows people wearing each colour as opposed to a colour dot on the Bar One Site.
I have a load of Champion ones that we used to give away as promo t-shirts, still going strong after 5 years. Depending on the time of year though I do find the cotton quite heavy.
I was given a couple of cotton Musto t-shirts for Christmas a few years ago and they are doing well. I've just ordered a couple more, they are a bit spendy but worth it (opinions maywill differ!)
Gildan all the way, especially for long sleeves.
Got a promotional tee off a company about 7 years ago, been worn regularly ever since and to this day is my favourite tee to wear, so comfy .
If you really want quality and made in the UK check out Sunspel's t-shirts. Then check out the price. 😳
Uniqlo Supima cotton T shirts
+1 on this. I've a couple that are a bit shorter in the body but they've washed and worn really well and they're £10 each
Second plug for Stanley/Stella. Member of my family used to print on them commercially, excellent quality.
Cos are not cheap but lovely quality
I'm going to try some of the Stanley/Stella. What's the sizing like? Im normally a large, do they come up small?
M&S cool & fresh, way better quality than anything else I've tried, usually get them in packs of 2 next to vests n sleep stuff, keep their shape really well.

I found them bang on, I wear a medium and this fits really well, not too long in the sleeve or length, or too wide like other mediums out there.
Bar One actually sent me a large by mistake in my main order, they said to keep it before sending out the medium, if you send me a couple of quid for postage you can have it to try on and keep.
Whatever Threadless used to use back in the day before they had their own tees. I've still got some vintage Threadless from ~2005 with the original label cut out which are basically as good as new. Very curious where they came from, my guess was American Apparel.
As above GIldan from tshorts online. Their customer service is ecellent too - one short turned up with a sight mark and replacement was with me the next day.

I bought the hype and have tried a couple but they're going back - quality is lovely but the fit is all wrong for me. My 20 year old American Apparel are a much, much better shape.
I need to start measuring things up before buying online. I have no idea how women do it, I feel bad buying and returning but the high street seems to have died and there's nowhere to get a nice plain T-shirt any more.
Very curious where they came from
There is the occasional t-shirt that comes along that seems to be entirely impervious to the passage of time.
I've got a t-shirt a friend bought in a US yard sale on his travels and gave to me as a present. Its merch / a freebie from a 1995 underground safety equipment fair - if fact he gave all his friends schmutter from that yard sale. Whenever we got together we looked like the cast from King of the Hill. I've been wearing that t-shirt since 1996 as my preferred workshop / site t-shirt so usually worn at least once a week and gets mucky and washed pretty harshly. Its now older than some of the people I work for. Its still in great condition and shape and is still searingly bright orange. The only thing that has frayed and faded is the manufacturers label (and the guy wearing it)
Decathlon work for me. The 'hunting' ones come in nice brown and green shades which I have lived in for the last couple of years.
Came here to recommend alpkit tees, they do plain colours as well (no print) but seeing the recommendations for Stanley/Stella reminded me that’s who makes the tees for alpkit. I really like the fit, I wear a small (5’11” with a 38” chest), nicely fitted but not skin tight (maybe a slim fit?)
Lands End. Not cheap but good. I buy when they have a sale.

Thanks for this. Not heard of them.
Like to put my money where my mouth is and buy the local stuff rather than buying the cheapest crap shipped half way around the globe.
Ethics are often forgotten with clothes whilst people go on about SUVs etc.
My compromise solution as above is currently colourful standard. Not as pricy as sunspel but made in Portugal using environmentally friendly dyeing techniques etc. Will probably try sunspel at some point but sounds like I need to try first!
Yes I notice a lot of Finisterre is made in Portugal.
Holy thread resurrection:
My Rapanui t-shirts have gone misshapen like people above. Weirdly I've got some old AlpKit tees that are falling apart and they've been great, the one i got about 3 years ago is awful
What's the latest recommendations for simple plain t-shirts?
Must be true to size, not shrink and ideally under £10 each
Cheap
Good quality
And not made in a sweat shop
Doesn't exist in my opinion.
Not used these but worth a punt at £45 for three
We were sourcing some plain t-shirts a few years back to get silk screen printed
South Manchester Massive? I still have two that I wear regularly
Bella Canvas 3001 Ts have a great fit. Available on eBay or Amazon for around £9-£12 each. They wash up great, just don’t tumble dry them.
Haven’t got any (yet), but ‘community clothing’ tees look good, UK made but they fail the ‘under a tenner’ test!
Any more suggestions?
I have a Uniqlo cotton t-shirt I bought from a charity shop. It's twice as thick/heavy as any other t-shirt I own. Feels proper quality

I have some, very nice quality. My wife bought them for me, not sure I would have been able to cope with the price…
I don't mind a minor bit of shrinkage in the top half, the thing I find really annoying is shrinkage in length
I'm 6'3 but wear a medium t shirt. Some of my tees have shrunk length ways so they're shorter than I'd like. Does anywhere do tees that are not too short. I don't want a nightdress, also don't want a crop top
I've got a couple of Morvelo t-shirts (6=7yrs old) and they're very good
I wonder who makes them?
Sainsbury for cheap every day T-shirts
Stanley Stella Creator T shirts.
I got some t-shirts at the end of summer - here goes:
- Finisterre: washed loads and is still great, lovely soft cotton
- Montane: very good
- M&S: awful as it lost shape after 2 washes
Best "high street" I've found are the Farah ones. Good range of colours, nice weight, wash very well. Organic cotton now too. Not a tenner.
Nudie shirts are also nice in terms of weight & longevity but a bit loose / boxy for my taste.
Had lots of wear out of various Crew t-shirts as well.
Going to try the Stanley Stella ones when I need some more basics.
Current fav for basics was Gildan but their organic options aren't as extensive. Tried Weekday in a few colours and whilst fine, they are a bit lightweight and don't hold the shape as well as the Gildan.
