So I've had an induction hob for 6 months, and it's worked perfectly with my stainless steel Bialetti stovetop espresso maker... until a few weeks ago, when it decided not to. Now it intermittently and seemingly randomly decides I can or can't have a coffee.

Works with larger pots but not the bialetti, and smaller pots don't work on the larger rings, so I suspect there's some sort of size sensor issue - how would that work? Is there a size sensor? How does it know there's an object there to heat?

It's an Indesit VIA640C_BK. I can ask the folk I bought it from to have a look but if the engineer can't find a fault I pay a charge. I'm worried they'll tell me it's just too small to work, but it did for months...

Yours in coffeeless frustration,

B

Too tired to explain properly but it's probably no longer inducing enough current in the pot for it to detect - see what has changed, make sure there is good electrical contact between bottom & top of maker?

Are you using the same amount of water each time? Also make sure it's in exactly the right spot on the hob as they do have a sensor.

Thanks for the thoughts...

Can't see anything that has changed. I thought it might be that the oven below has been on, something had heated up... but it's cool now and still not working.

Have tried various amounts of water and various positions.

Bet it works tomorrow, just to confuse me.
