Currently I'm building a summerhouse for the purpose of a working from home garden office / place for the kids to kick about in / and just general space for use all year round. I got a log cabin kit from Dunster and thinking about a vapour barrier for the floor. I am insulating with Kingspan type insulation between the floor bearers with a 25 mm air gap underneath. Was just going to use that and foil tape along all the joints and around the edge to cover up all the gaps then put wooden flooring over the top (either the tongue and groove pine planks that came with the kit or possibly ply or OSB sheets) and thinking/hoping the insulation and foil tape will be sufficient for a vapour barrier to keep out any damp coming up from the floor. Is my thinking correct, or do I need some plastic sheeting or one-way membrane?
Ta.
I'd say if you've got an air gap underneath you won't get much moisture at all. Foil and tape will be more than adequate.
Yep, leaving a decent air gap. Thanks for the confirmation.
