...Long stay parking Gatwick North..The website is Official Gatwick Parking. Seems cheap for 2 weeks (£96). You drop the car and they park it and keep the keys.
Anyone used them before?
I've paid only a fraction more than that (£110, IIRC) in the past to stay at the Sofitel the night before and park at the hotel, a covered walkway away from the terminal. Worth a look if youve got an early flight.
Good call, I’ll have a look at that. Thanks.
Yeah, I've used it before. Assuming website is www.gatwickparking.com
I generally use their valet option now - especially if lots of luggage, saves all the bus hassle. Plus, it's the only time I ever get my car washed.
"Summer Special" is an official Gatwick Airport parking product, rather than a third party 'Purple Parking' type thing. Infact it is their answer /competition to that end of the market.
I've used it several times, basically you drive in to the car park, park up in a lane, drop your keys at reception and confirm when you are due back. Then you take one of the regular buses to the terminal which take around ten mins and depart every ten mins.
They then block park your car in a space efficient manner (they know who is due back when, so no real need for access to cars, so they can park them closer together without the need for direct access to the car park lanes, passenger doors etc)
When you arrive back at the airport you take the bus to the car park and collect your keys. Your car will have been moved from one of the block parking areas to a collection bay near to the place where you collect your keys.
I actually prefer it to their standard long stay product as the buses appear to be slightly more regular as they don't need to do such a circuitous route around the car park as there is only one drop /pick up point. I also would rather leave my keys with them than run the risk of misplacing them whilst away.
It is not really just for summer either, I've also used it in the winter.
Also, no real need to worry about damage to cars, when you enter the car park you are made to drive through a lane that takes a high definition image of the whole car, so any disputes about damage can be proved /disproved.
Plus, it’s the only time I ever get my car washed.
The Valet service never washed my car, I'll have a word when I drop it off next week!
I’ve used summer special a couple of times and would use it again for longer trips, for all the reasons peekay gives. I find the short bus ride reliable and trustworthy - you know what you’re getting cod you effectively always park your car and pick it up in the same small car park. What happens to the car in between is magic.
I have also used the valet option and really like it as described above, for shorter stays where the cost is acceptable for me.
Used them a couple of times - always no issues. I wouldn’t trust the valet - drop off at short stay (especially non official ones) - types. Too many horror stories about them. Also I tend to take the wife’s old car when leaving it at airport.
We’ve just paid £89 for 10 nights in the long stay. Rather keep my keys.
@Kryton57, you pay extra for the washing, it's not included. I figure I can stretch to the extra for the 2-3 times a year I go!
Not used them but if you’re going any time soon the traffic at Gatwick is crap at moment lot of road works by looks of it
