I've just bought a dark grey suit, but just realised that I don't really have any shirts that will go with it. I have my best mate's wedding next weekend so wondering what colour shirt and tie to go for. I guess white is the safest option for the shirt.

Need to know really the colour of your hair, complexion, and what shoes/tie and hankie you will be completing the ensemble with. A short fat red faced bloke in a purple shirt is a no no, and yellow/peach can make a pale skin look washed out.
But realistically, almost any colour will go with dark grey, white is classic, but might be too formal for a summer wedding? Blue/grey might not give enough "contrast". What colour is the bride/bridemaids wearing, or the theme to the wedding generally?

Edited to take in Yunki's point - a lovely traditional Liberty print mens floral number if you don't want to go TOO traditional. If the weather's good, I'd be doing just that, with a nice light (but not white - that can be vulgarif not at the cricket) linen summer suit.

How about bald and pasty? 😀

Edit: no idea what the theme is tbh.

Aye white's a bit office-y. Just get a nice tailored shirt and tie to go with it, blue is safe.

I do have a pale blue pin-stripe shirt. Would that work? What colour tie?

Whichever out of your school, regimental or club tie has the best colours.

Plain with a striped tie would be my choice. Just don't turn up in shiny holiday shirt bought from the Caribbean (in this case) as you'll like a right flipping prat. Just like two of my wife's relations did to our wedding.

the sun will shine so jkt will come off, so plain white is out, subtle baby blue shirt, no tie, simple smart watch ( 50's Omega), ethnic jewellery, any colour shoe except brown..
got to feel comfortable and relaxed,to look your best for the honeys who are feeling broody..

Why is plain white out! I love a slim fitted white crisp shirt and narrow tie!
Anyhow I'll hijack, going to a bit of a celeb wedding in August where there's gonna be some right flash bastards no doubt, what shirt/tie to wear with my new light grey suit? Suit was a bit of a result price wise so willing to spend a bit on shirt and tie combo if I have to!

If you aren't wearing a tie then your shirt needs to be like this...

those in the know will be mostly rocking a heavily patterned open collar shirt this wedding season..

otherwise it looks like you are just out at the pub after work rather than a special occasion
