[Closed] Suggest somewhere peaceful to study for exams for a couple of weeks in April

An opportunity has presented itself.

I have finals for my MSc in May. We have holidays in April. My friend is renting my spare room so can look after my cats and means I get some cash.

I know that I study best without distractions - being in my house, with chores to do and just "life stuff" is distracting. For my last exams I sat in the basement of my girfriend's shop every day, with no internet or phone signal.

For this I'd like to find somewhere in a nice part of the country to "get away from it all" yadda yadda.

Any suggestions? Criteria are:

Needs electricity

£30 a night max

Not in an urban environment

Decent road or mountain biking.

Not too far away. I'm based in Edinburgh. Doubt I'd want to drive all the way to Cornwall or anything, so a bit closer. Highlands, Lakes, Peaks, North Wales?

Ideally a place to myself. I'd looked at a hostel up on Harris, that while I wouldn't be guaranteed my own room or anything, I think it'd be pretty empty that time of year: http://www.gatliff.org.uk/?page_id=11

I think there are "glamping" pods up at loch Eck, near Dunoon. Nice part of the world with supposedly good riding. Could be worth a look

For maximum remoteness while still having electricity (from a micro hydro scheme) I'd say Loch Ossian SYHA. £15 per night.

I looked at Loch Ossian Hostel, but it's already pretty much full. Doubt I'd get the peace I wanted.

Will have a look at those glamping pods.. website ain't great for them

The problem you have is that your budget leans more towards hostels etc, where you might struggle with getting the peace you need.

I love Craignure bunkhouse on Mull. However it is a bunkhouse so likely you will be sharing

Camping pods at Gorsebank near Dalbeattie, you can ride straight onto the dalbeattie 7 stanes trail from the site. Lots of nice roads to ride too.

Edit: I guess your holidays are over easter so you might struggle to get somewhere for two weeks.

One of them little shepherds hut thingies (but they always seem ludicrously overpriced to me)?

Lindisfarne is an idea - I've never been there before.

Gorsebank - also a good shout. in fact, I've got the 10 bedroom bunkhouse booked for a mountain biking trip with my pals at the end of March

I have contacted Bill about his hut - thanks!
