I'm after a few belts to hold up my 'outdoor' trousers, hiking and biking and so on. I've tried a few Craghoppers types and they are pretty comfortable initially but tend to roll up at the back over time. I have a Lowe Alpine one that's pretty good but pricey for what it is I feel. Any suggestions?

I bought several Eagle Creek travel money belts, basically a nylon belt with a fairly simple buckle, and a zip stitched to the back so that folded cash can be stashed away behind, handy if out on a ride, if not when travelling.
I can’t find them anywhere that’s easily available, I bought mine from an outdoor travel gear shop in Bath some years back, in fact I have one on my Danish Army combat trousers I’m wearing right now, but this is pretty close - they don’t fold over, ten-fifteen years of use has proved that.

It's a bit outdoorsy/tacticool sometimes. So I've had my eye out for a good quality, simple but chunky leather belt for a while. I'm looking for something better made than the high street shops, but hopefully not Hebtroco prices!

Mine is an elasticated herringbone weave with a few inches of leather at each end and a conventional buckle.
It isn't branded but came from a High Street store, Blacks, maybe? Very comfortable and dressy enough for casual wear too

A few retailers like Black and Trespass sell them, Decathlon describe them as golf belts, no idea why.

With the pin in the buckle simply going through the weave, rather than a specific preset hole, it does make fine adjustment easy to achieve.

Pick any ratchet belt that takes your fancy (great if your between notches), cheap as chips or you can find them for silly money too.

Arcade belts are currently on Sports Pursuit but don't buy the Arcade Vapor belt - looks great but doesn't work as a belt as it keeps coming loose... Can't vouch for the other models
Tbh, it’s perfectly easy to make your own with a teeny bit of effort. One of my Eagle Creek belt buckles snapped, so I just bought a packet of 30mm snap buckles like on yer average rucksack or whatever, cut the stitching where the fixed end folded over, got a nice hefty needle and thread like you’d use for leather or canvas, and just stitched it back together. It’s not that difficult to do, once you’ve got the hang of it, you can make a bunch in different colours.
Here’s three of mine, the top green one has the original buckle, the next down, the black one, the folding part of the buckle snapped, so I cut the stitching you can see on the left of the green belt and re-stitched it with the snap buckle, and the blue belt, which is very thick, had a metal ‘military’ style buckle, it’s a skate belt, but the buckle rattled and was annoying, so I just stitched a snap buckle on. Practically indestructible, unless you stand on the buckle and break it, in which case you just restitch a new buckle on.
OP here. I'm pretty good sewing buckles etc and have made several bespoke camera and lens cases over the years. The issue I have with belts is the way they roll at the back. If you can suggest a good tape suitable for my wants I'd be well pleased.
