I suppose an 11am ruck works nicely in time for a 3 o’clock kick off. Another dimension for the away-day crowd.
A march on Armistice Day asking for a war to stop - unconscionable.
🙄
Well done to folk of all faiths or none who are marching for peace today.
And well done to the British Legion for standing up and saying they had no problem with a peace march, don’t cancel it in their name.

A couple of counter-demonstrators being completely ignored by the thousands walking past
Wonder why he needed safety boots?
Barely any police visible on the ceasefire march.
Because its well marshalled and they know its unlikely to cause trouble?
The only trouble is likely to be if the fascist bootboys get anywhere near it in any numbers.
BBC now reporting that 80 of Bravermans Brownshirts have been arrested,, this is going well for her isn't it?
Is it one of you lot with the banner saying "Suella sucks ass"?
I only see their posts because of 'know your enemy' but seeing claims on the comments below the likes of Fox and Corcoran and Grimes, that the RW protests have only kicked off because of infiltrators just there to light the blue touch paper and wait for the police to react at which point the thugs will see it as an invite.
Which I guess can't be ruled out completely, but jeez, what have we come to when Braverman has basically asked for this to happen.
Just sent this to my local bootlicker (sorry MP)
"I would just like to express my outright disbelief in the fact that we have a home secretary who has through her actions essentially triggered disorder in London by the racist far right today.
I understand that your party is relying on dog whistle politics now rather than actually trying to govern based on the best thing for the country.
Can you please explain why her actions are acceptable to the prime minister and your party? "
Wonder if I will get a reply
Is it one of you lot with the banner saying “Suella sucks ass”?
she's certainly got the face for it
Good on you for attending the ceasefire march ernie.
Wonder why he needed safety boots?
What about the ripped trousers and bloody knees?
BBC now reporting that 80 of Bravermans Brownshirts have been arrested,, this is going well for her isn’t it?
Yes she can claim she was right about how right wing protesters are treated differently than the left wing ones.
Ok she will need to skip over a few minor details about how they behave differently but for someone as dishonest as her that is easy enough.
Cold War Steve perfectly captures the scenes

why does twitter not show like it used to?
Well what a surprise. The overwhelming problems come from the far right lot and their rallying points are pubs.
So Armistice Day was marred by the very people that went there to "protect" it.
I suspect it wont be pretty tonight but hopefully all the people there for the Armistice (really there for that, I mean, not a punch up ) and protestors are home safely.
I'm guessing Tommy boy had to be somewhere urgently, repelling an attack at the local McDonald's perhaps? Defender of the Big Mac. Such a shame he went full on Trump and "would be with them all the way"... until he wasn't. Oh dear oh dear.
I'm loving the phrase "Bravermans brownshirts" Lets hope it gets into common usuage
Very misleading headline from the express
.
" More than 80 arrested in Remembrance Day protest march clashes between far right and pro-Palestinians "
.
There was no 'clash' between the two, in fact as we all know the far right thugs were nowhere near the pro Palestinian marchers yet the express is implying the two groups have come together and some sort of fighting broke out.
The Met posted a video showing counter-protesters shoving police officers and chanting: “You’re not English, you’re not English, you’re not English anymore.”
I'm sure the Heddlu officers I saw yesterday helping out the policing today are having a wry smile at that.
^^ Lol, I don't know any Heddlu officers were there. I wont lie, I'm glad my son wasn't, he's based down in Kent so pretty local but sounds like he's been in the station all day. "Paperwork" or summut. He has his own language now and I don't understand most of it. 😁
This is so similar to Trump and the Proud Boys, I think we have to assume it’s not a coincidence.

Yep, including the Trump/ Yaxley flounce. Oh, with more beer and kebabs though.
Loving how they were marched out of that pub one at a time being very compliant. Likely as some of the idiots had weapons/drugs on them according to the Beeb.
What patriots.🙃
Beeb also reporting that some of the arrested have convictions for football hooliganism. Again. Shocker.

That's interesting. I was taken aback earlier by how Muslim looking police officers were present today, I even saw a policewoman wearing a hijab, I've never noticed that before. I also noticed that there were police vehicles from places as far away as Lancashire and West Merica.
I started to wonder whether they had deliberately used as many Muslim officers as possible. Then it suddenly occurred to me how humiliating it would be for Braverman's thugs to be arrested by Muslim police officers.

Cruella has been using the Trump playbook from day 1. Whipping up division with her toxic conspiracy theories and lies.
Unfortunately I think we’ve much worse to come from her as she know she has a strong power base within the Tory MPs and members who thoroughly approve of what she’s doing.
She’ll have been loving seeing Yaxley-Lennon and his thugs today as it was exactly what she wanted to incite. As there as been no sanction on her as Sunak is so weak and spineless, she’ll now double down and ratchet up the nationalist rhetoric even further
She’ll have been loving seeing Yaxley-Lennon and his thugs today
I wish the press would stop showing photos of that turd. Cant they just show a taxi wheelspinning away leaving his marks standing there to face the cops?
^^ In hoping the flounce was captured on camera by someone though.
I don't do Twitter now, anyone seen it posted?
The little weasel did a runner in a cab as soon as it kicked off.

EDIT: I don’t know why Twitter links don’t display any more like they used too. Here’s a screenshot

if you project the trump playbook to it’s inevitable conclusion they will have plans to steal power. :/
Suella literally wants to be PM so yep, unfortunately.
He cant help himself can he?
Dogwhistling to the racists whilst avoiding his own responsibility for it.
Sod talking to the met commissioner talk to his own ministers.
Yeah, I'd be surprised if he sacks her after such a weasely statement like that. Spineless.
It takes some doing when you manage to give the Met the moral high ground
Yeah, I’d be surprised if he sacks her after such a weasely statement like that. Spineless
Sack her? He clearly has to ask her permission before he can do anything
What this shows, beyond any doubt, is that he’s so scared of Cruella and the far right headbangers, that she’s actually now PM in all but name.
It’s obvious that she can say and do what she likes, including making up policy on the hoof and there’s not a damn thing he’s prepared to do about it
Id Sunak commenting on a movie he just saw?
Not sure this is based on today's events.
^^ Yep, the GE is going to be properly nasty. It's going to be a true fight for the heart and soul of the country and what we wish to be in the 21st century.
I'll be staying up on GE night and I won't lie, I'm going to be inconsolable if the Tory's win enough seats to form a government.
The fear and intimidation the Jewish community have experienced over the weekend, according to Sunak.
I can't remember the last time I saw so many Jewish people in one day. Saw loads of Stars of David and quite a lot of kippahs.

Well done Ernie, you've represented many of us on here.
There were a (very) few Hamas supporters at the protest, from the BBC reports, and I don't doubt that there has been an increase in threats to the Jewish community, but the government seems to be overplaying it. From my few Jewish contacts in the UK, they are more concerned by the actions of the Israeli government than any risks over here.
It’s going to be a true fight for the heart and soul of the country and what we wish to be in the 21st century.
Probably the wrong thread, but I think Starmer needs to get his gloves off and push that line from now - put some clear water between this shitshow of a government and the alternative.
There were a (very) few Hamas supporters at the protest, from the BBC reports
I didn't see that on the BBC, just a report that the police saw a couple of people wearing scarves which might have had Hamas slogans written on them, and were at this stage looking into it.
Presumably they were written in Arabic so they need to find out if they should be offended.
I was wearing a Palestinian scarf today which I have had since the start of the Iraq War, it has a drawing of the Al-Aqsa Mosque in East Jerusalem on it and underneath the drawing a load of Arabic writing. I have absolutely no idea what it says 😁
@ernielynch I've been out in the woods with my son for the day, and I genuinely feared getting back into an area of phone reception and catching up on what had happened. A lot of what I have seen stirred so many feeling of dismay, sadness, and anger.
Seeing those images after all that bought a tear to my eye. Thank you, and thank you to all who added their voice to this number. That's beautiful.
I have absolutely no idea what it says
I have dobbed you into crimestoppers just in case.
I could do with a new bike.
Unfortunately Yvette Cooper's comments as reported in the Guardian aint that much better than Sunak.
"Today we have seen disgraceful scenes of far-right violence against police officers, and attempts to disrupt Armistice events, on a day when we pay our respect to all those who fought and died to protect our freedoms.
We have also seen appalling cases of antisemitic hate, intimidation, and support for terrorist groups like Hamas, which must be unequivocally condemned."
This all feels surreal, I know how we've got to this stage but still find it unbelievable that this is happening in the UK.
I’ll be staying up on GE night and I won’t lie, I’m going to be inconsolable if the Tory’s win enough seats to form a government.
Same here, it feels like it's the last chance to turn the country's future around. If the Tories stay in No. 10 then I really can't see any reason for staying here.
Well done Ernie, you’ve represented many of us on here.
Seconded.
I have absolutely no idea what it says 😁
Google translate?
Nice one Ernesto
Google translate?
I can't write Arabic! Google lense maybe?

Translates to.
Buy one get one free
It translates to
"This one is a mug, will buy any old shit".
Basically it is a positive sign for hawkers
We have also seen appalling cases of antisemitic hate, intimidation, and support for terrorist groups like Hamas, which must be unequivocally condemned.”
Have we? Beyond a couple of isolated individuals, not seen anything like that reported yet.
How many open goals can they miss?
Seeing those images after all that bought a tear to my eye.
Do you mean images of Jewish people on today's demo? There were loads, I took a few photos but it doesn't do justice to the situation. Here's a couple more:

They don't look very intimidated do they?!?
Seems strange that siddiq khan has come out saying there were issues with the march too.
His message is rather more sensible though making a distinction about the relative numbers. With the use of "some who have used the pro-Palestinian protest to spread hate and racism, including antisemitism" rather than the both sides approach deployed by both Sunak and Cooper.
An utterly predictable outcome.
Surely Sunak needs to give her the boot now, I know having her in the cabinet was the price he paid to the headbangers for "unity" under his leadership, but that pretence has evaporated now and it's doing him more harm than good keeping her around.
“Bravermans brownshirts” has to stick, it needs to be all over SM and print by tomorrow, that line needs to be repeated every time an opportunity comes up SYL and Cruella need to wince at it...
I reckon this Guardian report is pretty fair:
I particularly liked this:
Rachel Solnick, a PhD student on the march, said: “I feel really appalled by how some of the framing around liberation for Palestine has been as if there’s an opposition, or some kind of binary between Jewish safety and Palestinian safety. I absolutely disagree with that framing.
“I think that loads of us who have Jewish ancestry feel really strongly that what is taking place in Palestine is ethnic cleansing and we don’t want it to happen in our names. It feels so important to gather here in numbers, as Jews and as members of the British public in general, to counter that narrative.”
But none of that happened did it? in response to the X post up there
Ahhh i see a lot has happened since i posted the above
I can't quite believe what I've heard in the last 10 minutes on R4. My word, incredible.
Can you briefly summarise? Thanks.

I consider this inane diatribe from professional outrage monger Douglas Murray on Dave Rubin’s right wing fascist show more troubling than anything I’ve viewed from the march
I couldn't watch all that. I could honestly feel my blood pressure rising.
Knowing that yaxley-lennon scuttled away like the cockroach he is was...gratifying.
It's disappointing that a number of protestors from the main march - reportedly c150 - have been arrested after aiming fireworks at police; this hugely detracts from the ceasefire march and protest.
It allows braverman & co, including the usual media suspects, to draw some sort of equivalence between both sides; front page of sunday express proves this.
Of course, any attempt at equivalence is bollocks but too few will look beyond the headline.
reportedly c150 – have been arrested after aiming fireworks at police
Is that definitely the reason for their arrests? I thought it was because they they had broken away from the demo. The police made it very clear before the demo that anyone breaking away from the main march and the agreed route would be arrested.
I thought these 150 had broken away and were in Belgravia when arrested? Although I don't doubt that they set off fireworks, there were a lot of fireworks today. At one point the organisers pleaded over the PA to people not to set off fireworks because of the potential dangers, at the time the crowds were packed like sardines near the American embassy.
mail focusing on jostling
https://twitter.com/hendopolis/status/1723473070231282136?t=1eo7H1E-jJJSdtKIz7_Elw&s=19
Jostling? Oh my, he must be quite traumatised!
So many straws being desperately clutched in that headline, its like a cat falling off a haystack
arsehats
It does seem like it’s a coordinated campaign and the right wing press all absolutely love Braverman.
The mad thing is that all this is just a warm up for the Rwanda verdict on Wednesday when, depending on the result, the Mail and Co will go into full ‘Enemies of the People’ meltdown mode again which will even further embolden Cruella. I’m sure she wants to lose the case as much as she wanted violence today. It all suits her personal agenda
Well it shows just how peaceful the ceasefire demo was that Michael Gove felt confident enough to stroll around central London, including a main rail terminus, unaccompanied.
You have to assume that with all the recent headlines, and "talk of hate marches", Gove was well aware of what to expect today. Even if he had forgotten when he left his house the multitude of Palestinian flags should at some point have reminded him. And yet he obviously wasn't too fazed at the thought of meeting pro-Palestinian demonstrators.
Funnily enough I was jostled too today. In fact more than once, including at Victoria station
From my few Jewish contacts in the UK, they are more concerned by the actions of the Israeli government than any risks over here.
That will always be the case won't it. It is like assuming that all the people in a country are behind what their government is doing. In this case religion also comes into but nonetheless, UK people don't all support whatever the UK government are doing and I remember a sizeable march in protest of what Blair was up to as an example.
There will also be a lot of Jewish people who fully support what Israel are doing.
Such a shame that "Jewish, Palestinian and British people all come together to prove Braverman wrong and march for peace" doesn't make headlines and sell newspapers.
From what I saw on the news last night the headline should've been "EDL disrupt remembrance ceremony"
