Sudden cardiac deaths of school children seem to be in the papers more and more. Usually they occur during or soon after PE lessons. Are incidences on the increase or is it due to more reporting of these very sad and tragic events?
I suspect they are just reported more.
It happened to a kid I was at school with in 1979 - he collapsed and died after execise due to an undiagnosed heart condition.
SADS is probably more reported now as opposed to increasing then add the perception of you noticing it more then it gives the impression of it increasing.
Reported more rather than anything else, I think, and raising awareness is always a good thing

there will be one more if mine destroys another rear mech......
increased awareness I think. Growing up, we had a lad "drop dead" in a PE lesson and another lad died during a football game.
