Could do with a dinky insulated travel mug that takes an espresso but my google foo is letting me down and I can only come up with "normal" size travel mugs. Does such a thing exist?
Using the smallest KeepCup in my camping setup. Tbh it's still a bit big, but can be pressed into service for wine or a decent dram too. There's an enamel espresso cup kicking around the back of the van (from the Range I think) that's just right but not insulated obvs.

Thinking about it, does it need to be insulated? Surely there's so little liquid you just down it - it won't stay hot no matter what you put it in. I just preheat the cup with boiling water.
I like an Espresso in the morning before running. I often have a 10 min drive to where I run and would be nice to sup a coffee on the way - even though it's only a couple of mouthfuls. As you say, cools so quickly so I'd like an insulated one so it's still hot by the time I've made it, chucked the dogs in the car and got going...
It would be too little liquid to stay warm regardless, you'd be better looking at one of those heated mugs
I doubt anything will work, there's so little liquid that by the time it's warmed up the container it's already tepid anyway, and if you go to the extra effort of pre-warming the container you may as well have just sat down for 30s and drunk it.
My pre-run espresso is made once I'm there. Gas stove (you could use a thermos of hot water), grinder and Picopresso. Sounds like a faff but it all lives in the van anyway.
I always pre heat a travel mug before putting the actual contents in.
Espresso ages fast. No one make a keep warm cup that small for that reason. At least they didn’t. A shame, I hunted high and low about 3 years ago for one.
For not quite so short drinks, Frank Green do a good 8oz cup… ceramic lined and double wall vacuum. Tough and great to drink out of… assuming you don’t drink through the lid.
I have one, a GSI one.
It's perfect for having a double espresso for a car journey...keeps warm for about 20-25 minutes. Best if you preheat it with boiling water. Mine was from MEC in Canada, but you must be able to get something like that over here.
I put 4 double espressos in my pre-heated STW branded travel beaker and top it up with boiling water to make an extra long americano. I
It will stay warm for 6 hours and you'll be very well refreshed.
That's a nice thing @mikertroid ... do you know if the lid is good enough to prevent spills if knocked or tipped?

@kelvin, it's held in by friction only. I use it in the car cupholder, but I wouldn't want to rely too heavily on the lid if it got knocked too hard.
Keep cup used to do an xxs, I have one, but it's 4oz and non insulated.
Now they do an insulated metal option in 6oz, it'll easily hold and espresso and can be warmed on top of the kettle, depends on your brew method, the top of the machine would work too.
This is one for the stw check list. Obscure travel mug requirements.
How about a whole portable espresso maker?
Perhaps impractical for brewimg up whilst driving down the M1 however I want one nonetheless...

There must be one available in France to fit the cup holders in @monkeyboyjc new van. 😁
Kleenkanteen do one I think
at 8oz, maybe a bit big
I have this. Bought for similar reasons - I like a very short americano, a double shot with a double shot of water kinda thing. Had it many years now and it's quite battered, but that's because I use it so much - would easily be into 5 figures if I was counting. I often use it at home because it holds the heat so well.
I love that little GSI one though, could be even better.
A non-spill lid would be nice. I've tried in vain to find one that fits my Klean Kanteen.
Surely the issue with an espresso sized travel mug is it all cools down too quickly due to such a small volume of hot liquid?
Well, excitingly for little me, some searching prompted by this thread led me to find that Frank Green now do a non-spill lid for my 8oz 6oz cup. Ordered one. Although they’ve stopped making importing into the UK cups that “small” now. Got to be a gap in the market for small insulated closed cap cups.
EDIT: you can still get the little 6oz cup, just not via the UK shop. Highly recommend… especially now you can dump the stupid button lid and get a cap lid instead.
If you don't need to drink while driving and want it when you get to you destination, how about:

plus the smallest one of these:

Should keep it warm enough for 10 mins. I have some larger insulated glasses and it always surprises me how long it keeps a cappucino warm for everytime I burn my mouth on it thinking it will have cooled down enough.
Ooo, GSI one looks good - thanks! I’m a double espresso fella so that could work nicely!
The GSI mug is 192ml, with so much air in the cup an espresso (c50ml for a double) doesn't have much chance of staying warm. i think for any insulated cup to work, it needs to be close to full.
Got to be honest, if I had a single or double espresso first thing on the way to a running spot, I'd also be starting the thread on what travel potty
My pre-ride one has to be at home.

The whole premise for the mug is to be able to yam an espresso whilst in the car after you've set off. As espresso's are so small, even double/triple, I don't sip them like a normal coffee, so there's no need for them to stay so warm for so long.
Mine stays pretty warm if you prewarm the mug up first, but I'll drink it soon after setting off. Works for me anyhoo!

That’s why you pour boiling water into the mug and swirl it around then make your drink, empty the hot water out and drink in.
I prefer a longer drink, and I use those bottle flasks, usually with green tea. Using hot water before putting in the drink at 5am means I’m finishing it off at 3.30pm.
